 More Chickens!
« Thread Started on Jul 21, 2009, 11:01am »

:D Yesterday our neighbor came over and gave me 4 hens and three roosters! :D He bought them 2 1/2 months ago.

He gave me 2 Silver Grey Dorking Hens ( their big and beautiful ) they are good meat, egg layers, and good setters. Their big plump hearty breed.

He gave me 2 Lakenvelders both Hens, they are small 3 or 4 lbs , the skin is white, and the breast unusually plump and round, almost like wild game birds. Hens lay white eggs and are
non- setters.

He gave me 3 roosters they are red and black speckled, with black tail and neck , an old breed of some type called (Red Spangled something) we think... ??? We forgot what he called them in all the excitement. :-/

This is the neighbor with the ''Wiz Bang Chicken Plucker''. He is going to loan this machine out to all his friends and neighbors. I do not know why he likes us so much, but he has been such a blessing to us giving us hard wood to burn for heat from his lumber mill, tilling our two large gardens 3 times real good, and now giving us fine hens and roosters.

Thank you Lord for good neighbors. :)

"Whiz Bang Chicken Plucker!?" you say. Well, here is a picture of one with a chicken going for a spin (no pun intended.) ;D

Supposedly, it plucks one clean in 15 to 20 seconds. Wow!

ooh gross Ben... ;D They left the head on. ::) If you don't bleed the chicken good and then tumble it around like that it seems it would cause bruising. :-/ I wonder how they bled it? and look at that tub of who knows what in the back ground.

I'll leave the Wiz Bang Chicken Plucking to you and the neighbor man. I'll stick with canning and freezing it once yall do your work :P ;D.

I liked these chickens (he gave me two hens, no rooster) so much that I decided to ask him if he knew where I could get a rooster to go with my hens. Well I never had time to call him and ask, yesterday morning he showed up and gave me a rooster to go with my hens so I can raise Dorkings myself! :o I never even got to ask him. The Lord is so good to me. Thank you Lord!

These chickens and roosters he has given me are all full blooded and 2 1/2 months old. These are fine, young, healthy birds. What a blessing. :)

LOL at the chicken pic, took me a second to get what that was lol.

It's wonderful about the chickens! I wish we could raise some here and my folks could back home too (ordinance stuff).

I love Silkies, just real neat looking chickens. I'd probably keep them for show and have alot of meat birds.
