Help with Orchard « Thread Started on Feb 12, 2009, 10:20am »
It has been unseasonably warm here lately, we got the trailer in our front yard moved last Saturday and took the day off for yard clean up, then the next day we cleaned out our over grown thicket of an orchard.
Boy was it a mess you could not even walk around because of the bushes and undergrowth. I did not know what were fruit trees and what was regular trees until we cleaned it all out.
We pruned the 6 trees, 4 Apple and one Plum and one Peach, then we hacked up the ground underneath and put cow manure under and straw on top of that. I think our efforts will help.
We had alot of good fruit come from that orchard last year. We are going to plant...
(4), Blue Berry bushes,
(2) Peach trees,
(2) Pear trees,
some Grape vines,
Raspberries, Blackberries,
Asparagus,
Rhubarb,
a Fig tree or two,
(3) Cherry trees,
(3) pecan trees,
(2) English Walnut trees,
(4) more Apple trees.
If you have any advice about how or were to plant these things please let us know because, we have never planted trees, berries and vines before.
