Growing Tomatoes in a 5 Gal bucket!

:DToday at the greenhouse where my son Benjamin works, a couple told Benjamin a neat way to plant tomatoes.....

Cut a 2 inch hole in the bottom of the bucket insert your tomato plant upside down, fill the bucket full of dirt, manure, whatever you use to grow your tomato plants.

You can hang the bucket on an old swing set or on the T post of your close line. They need to be in full sun.

They will try to grow upward around the bucket, but the fruit will keep them pulled downward.

Sounds pretty neat. I should give it a try with my three cherry tomato plants. I still haven't planted them yet. Maybe tomorrow.

Are you talking about planting them upside down like the topsy-turvy? My stepdad did that with a 5 gallon bucket this year. We all made fun of him and called it the redneck topsy turvy, but he actually had a healthy plant and grew tomatoes. I was surprised. I see the topsy turvy things everywhere, but you know what? I haven't seen one person have one that was living and healthy? I think people forget that they actually have to water them. I dont know. My brother gave us a hydro- thing to plant tomatoes in. You basically grow the tomato in water, no dirt at all. Anyone know what I am talking about? We haven't used it yet, maybe next year. I dont know.
