Christian Light Education , a Mennonite group like Rod and Staff, has a very good program all the way though H/S where the student can even get a diploma , I was very impressed with it. If one is not really a teacher as such it is layed out very nicely , and flows good from one year to the next. I am hoping to be able at some time use this with our Hannah.

I have seen the Christian Light curriculum. I don't like the pace concept (I graduated from Ace School of Tomorrow) but I did like it for it's strong Christian stand. It's one I would consider if I was going with just one curriculum. Someone mentioned Pathway Readers I believe. I have seen these and they are really nice. We are hoping to add some to our library. I have some sites that I want to post but I don't know how to do that whole instant link thing. I am very computer illiterate. I'll post them and someone could maybe repost them right or you can always do the old fashioned thing of hand entering them It's shocking I know. LOL! www.bookpeddler.usWe met this family at the convention here in Indy and they are a nice family. They do really good reviews in their catalog about the things they sell. www.naturesworkshopplus.comThis is a local homeschooling family. They are a nice conservative family. They don't sell curriculum, but great add toos. They sell alot of science type things. They give a good review of each item also. They seem to be very selective about what they sell from a Christian point. If anything has some non Christian theme they tell you. www.familymanweb.comI recommend all wives go to this site and sign up for Todd Wilson's weekly e-mails for your husbands. Todd speaks to homeschooling families and encourages them. He also has a book titled "Help I am married to a homeschooling mom" Allen loved this book and the weekly e-mails. Todd keeps things light hearted and encouraging. I loved his workshops and so did Allen. He passes out these stickers that say, "I am married to the world's greatest principal." and " My wife homeschools and she's my HERO." and "My mom homeschools and she's my HERO." The Rainbow Resource is a wonderful catalog. They have everything. Their catalog is over 900 pages. It's in black and white with few pictures, but they put alot of time into reviewing each item. You know what you are buying when you order from them, because their descriptions are so good. Someone also mentioned joining HSLDA. We would recommend this. It is very inexpensive, but would be priceless if you ever need it. It's like an insurance policy of sorts. If you don't ever need them then your money would help another family that might. I like them over other legal defense assc., because they deal with only homeschool issues and most of them are homeschooling parents themselves or were homeschooled. They are also Christians. Looking forward to hearing more from others. Heather

I'm enjoying these sites. Thanks so much. I have several sites that I like to go to.. one is for handwriting. My son is wanting to learn cursive handwriting and a friend of mine pointed me to this site where you can print out what you need. It is free. It says on the site that you can use whatever you need for free ;D. My favorite kinds of things.. free.. .. anyway, it's been a real help. I can print out extra if he needs more help on a particular letter or move right on when he gets it.. We do Bible verses for the week to practice the handwriting but this site helped with him learning how to form the letters at first.. it also has manuscript letters.. www.handwritingforkids.com/handwrite/cursive.htm

Thanks for that site. Nathanael is 7 and learned cursive last year. He does well, and we had moved him to wide ruled paper, but we realized after the summer break he was having trouble. The paper that is lined is too wide for him. The sheet I printed from this site was perfect for him. He is using it right now to copy his penmanship verse. I wanted to add another link to this thread. www.doorposts.netWe really like their materials. They have some very useful charts that really apply to everyday Godly life. The children really enjoy them and use them to reference to when bad behavior is noted in the home . They also have some great books that are just full of topical references. I will say that they don't always use KJV, but we just look it up in the Bible to make sure, but it provides good easy reference. On the charts if they don't use KJV we white it out and then write the right words in with a fine point sharpie before we have them laminated. We have several of their things and have a wish list for several more. I also want to encourage everyone to check out their local availabilities. Our local State Museum has a homeschool day once a month. We get into the workshops for $2 per child mom is free and this inc. admission to the museum. This is a HUGE savings off the normal price of admission. The children really enjoy it and it can be counted toward your state history study (which is mandatory in 4th gr. in Indiana). They also have a library for teachers to check out really neat kits for learning a certain subject. This inc. homeschoolers. Blessings, Heather

I love reading what everyone does. We have three children currently in school. David is 8 and in the 3rd grade. We use Saxon for math. For reading we have gone to the McGuffey readers great for down to earth moral stories. He also likes Tiger and Tom stories for boys. It is hard to keep him supplied with reading. English goes along with the McGuffey's but we also do LLATL and Winston grammar. He loves the Winston. very easy. For Bible the every one in school does Bible study guide. It is set up so the children will know all the major events in chronological order. They already have more head knowledge of the Bible than I did at their age. I love going through it with them. We will cover the entire Bible 3 times as they go through school 1-4: 5-8: 9-12 each time more in depth. Our History also cycles this way. We use Greenleaf guide and I have also been impressed with them. We do thinking skills once a week all the children draw constantly. For geography we are taking a different Missionary for 2 months and study where they are. Oh and penmanship we use the Spencerian theory. I have a friend whose daughter was raised in France with the most beautiful handwriting. They learn cursive to start with at age four. We will see how it goes for us. If I think of anything else I will send another post. In Christ, Michelle

I used Bob Jones last year and we are using ABEKA this year. We like them both. Bob Jones was the more costly of the two. My daughter says she likes ABEKA better. I went to a Homeschool Fair and could not believe how many types of curriculum were available.
