Dear Bro Ben,
I have just recently, 4months, started going to a IFB church and it has really been a blessing to me and I feel the Lord has lead me to this church. I have been growing much closer to the Lord in the last few years and the Lord has laid on my heart many changes that I needed to make and have been trying to do to the best of my ability.
I am from a S. Baptist background and have found this church to be much more conservative and very Godly than the S. Bapt church I was from.
One thing that I had been convicted of along with wearing dresses and skirts was a to wear a headcovering. When I first came to this church I was a bit worried about speaking to the pastor about it so I haven't mentioned it, although I do cover at home most of the time, but haven't yet wore it to church.
The other day my friend who has similar convictions as I do , asked the pastor why he didn't have the women cover and he said he thought the hair was the covering and that a cloth wasn't necessary. He did go on to say that if a woman in the church felt the Lord lead her to cover he would support her completely but didn't feel it was necessary.
I was really relieved to find that he would support our convictions. my question is, do you feel like it is a woman's place to bring up to the pastor that I and my friend don't agree that the hair is the covering? or should we just let it alone since he would support us if we begin to cover. I don't want to be offensive to him and my DH doesn't go to church so I wasn't sure if it would be proper or acceptable for me or my friend to address the pastor with maybe an article explaining the differences in the Greek wording.
I want to be a very submissive woman and so does my friend and our church supports women who are submissive. What do you think we should do in this situation? If you feel we should share our concerns that the hair isn't the only covering do you have any suggestions on what article to give him that may give him some insight? If you feel this isn't our place we want to know so as to do the right thing. thank you for any advice you may have, if I wasn't clear about anything just let me know. God Bless Alane
