Excellent exegesis Pastor Ben!
I finished it to my wife and she asked me:
"What about tights, leggings and long-johns? These are "crotched garments" are we commanded against wearing these as well(what do you suggest in the winter months?)? and lastly she quoted Deuteronomy 22:11 Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, as of woollen and linen together. Are we commanded not to wear poly cotton blends and the like?
I anxiously anticipate your answers.
Respectfully Submitted, Steve

First, I'd like to say, I don't remember saying that (though I might very will have,) if you would please post a link to the post so I can go back and review it. However, on to your question. These (tights, leggings and long-johns,) are under garments. I don't know when in history undergarments came into use, but they are not the issue it is the outward appearance that causes trouble. If a sister needs leggins and the such in the winter months, by all means keep warm. We just prefer it be covered with a loose fitting modest dress. My wife and girls are outside all winter...sometimes without leggins, etc. I believe alot like the old fundamentalist preacher, Lester Roloff. He believed you should not do these things either. You ca't out-obey God. His principals are eternal and good. I heard Bill Gothard speaking on this text and some laboratory experiments came up with a suprising find. Wearing these type of garments cause a great deal of allergic reaction in a large study group. The issue is modesty. The Bible says, " In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;" 1Tim 2:9 The Greek N.T. word: katastole connected with katastello, "to send or let down, to lower" (kata, "down," stello, "to send"), was primarily a garment let down; hence, "dress, attire," in general (cp. stole, a loose outer garment worn by kings and persons of rank, Eng., "stole"); 1Ti 2:9, "apparel." Pants cannot fulfill the requirement of this text because they are (even if they are baggy) form fitting and show the shape of the sister thus making it impossible for her to be shameface. I hope this helped. Let me know if I need to fill in some gaps. Bro. Ben Oh, BTW, Welcome on Bro. Steve, it is nice to see you on board!
