Let's please take time to say a prayer for all of those who have served in our armed forces today and who continue to serve.
God bless, Penny

One year after World War I drew to a close, President Woodrow Wilson declared November 11, 1919 as Armistice Day--a national holiday to celebrate victory in "the war to end all wars." Yet the dream of world of peace was soon shattered as first World War II, then the Korean Conflict called America's troops back to the battlefield. In 1954, Armistice Day was re-named as Veterans Day, a fitting tribute to all the men and women who have defended the cause of freedom around the world. Freedom is never free, it cost many lives for us to have the free Nation we have today, we may have many problems and seem to be backing away from God's word and teachings, but, it is still the best Country in the World, Praise the Lord I am an American.

thank you for that remembrance. I am a U S navy veteran of the Viet Nam era having served from 1965-1971. This morning the city's garbage trucks are out and about picking up the trash. This irritates me. I have no idea why our City has chosen not to honor the veterans who have given so much to our country. I believe a letter to the mayor is in order.
It is unfortunate that Armistice Day and Veteran's Day were combined. Most people are not even aware any more of the significance of November 11th. The Armistice which ended WWI was signed on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. Eleven o'clock on the eleventh of November 1918. It is so sad that significance has been lost. I would venture to say most students in public schools are not even aware of that fact any more.
Of course the way things are going in the public schools these days and with the constant re-writing of history I believe it will only be a matter of another 20 years or so before children are taught that WWII was all our fault.
Yours in Christ, George

I want to THANK any vets here for their service so that I may worship GOD freely, and that my children may live to choose GOD.
Our elementary school, had a special service this morning.. I think the only one out of all the county schools.. We had MANY vets, from all the conflicts and peace timess.. they recognized each one, and their student family members.. my father in law was there, the boys were so proud.. They gave them all a certificate of thanks, the Color Guard presented the flags, we said the Pledge.. the chorus sung several patriotic hymns, all of which mentioned GOD and HIS Blessings.. every speech that was given Honored God, and thanked HIM first for our Freedom, and for our vets and their protection.. we had a couple of soldiers who just returned from Iraq this week.. it was a special blessing for their children.. The ceremony was closed with prayer and invitation by the pastor from the church we attend.. I thanked the new principal for that and he said, he knew someone would probably complain but that you could not Thank the vets without Thanking God.. AMEN.. I doubt there will be complaints and told him so.. this is his first year.. our old principal had a morning prayer EVERY morning with the students then they said the pledge.. also allowed the Bible Man to come teach stories to them.. ;D Several students gave speeches.. mostly the 4th and 5th graders.. and they all mentioned God, and several told the history of when and where and why Veteran's Day was started.. Most of our City and County offices closed today..
Well, just wanted to THANK THE VETS!!! You are all a Blessing.. ....Blessed is he who would lay down his life for his brother.....
~~In Christ's Love, Heather
