Ice Cream and strawberries! The valley I live in is the second largest producer of strawberries in California and thus the country. We have fresh berries year round. They are not only good with ice cream they are good with yogurt also, either frozen or fresh. Let me give you a little something to think about that is really very, very good. You probably will want to try it on just a couple of berries first to see if you like it or not.
Slice up some berries and drizzle them with Balsamic vinegar. Not a whole lot of vinegar, just enough to get the taste and effect. It may sound completely weird but it is very deliscious.
In Christ, George

Lasts nights dinner was the most exciting dinner I can ever remember! We had baked chicken, home grown asparagus, salad, rice and gravy. Yum. The food is not what made it exciting it was what happened while I was fixing supper and while we ate. Just as I was taking the chicken out of the oven the tornado sirens started going off and the phone started ringing. I answered the phone and it was my dad. He wanted to tell me he was about five miles from home and the clouds were dark if we saw any funnels to turn off the stove and run to the basement. Well, he got home just as supper was finished it was not raining yet so dad said why do we not eat outside? So we fixed our plates and went out on our back porch to eat. The clouds were dark the thunder was loud and the lightening was flashing. after only a few minutes on the porch it started pouring down rain. so needless to say we finished our supper in the house. No sooner did we get done eating than mom said " The Chickens!" Well just the day before we put the chickens out side in the chicken tractor. Well, in the pouring down rain and hail we had to run outside and try to move 44 chickens that were sitting in water about twenty feet out of the rain. What a task that was !! I now know where the term bird brain came from. These chickens would NOT MOVE AHH!! Well, with mom and I working together to get the chickens out of the way and dad pulling the tractor after about a half hour we finally managed to get the chickens to higher ground out of the rain. praise the Lord they all survived. Whew I tell you we earned that angel food cake with strawberries after that! ;D ;D
One testimony of God's goodness is that Dad was late getting home last night and was too late to go to church. Well he does not mind if I go without him and I had fully intended to go. However, mom had went with him this day and I was supposed to cook supper for them. When it was time to leave for church I did not feel peace about going. Supper was not ready and I thought it is not right for me to go to church and leave my parents who have been working all day to fend for themselves. If I had a husband I would stay home and fix his dinner instead of going to church. SO I stayed home last night and when I would have been driving home ( a forty five minute drive) Was when the worst of the storm was. Praise God for his protection. Three people an hour north of us lost their lives. and about 30 -40 homes were destroyed.

We eat primarily vegetarian since it's cheaper here but we like tuna, hotdogs, and bacon very much.
I bulk cook suppers and lunches so this is what I had cooked tonight.
Sweet and sour tuna over noodles
Asparagus soup
Double batch of hotdog soup
Double batch of Broccoli Impossible Pie with potates
A cereal day (sort of catch as catch can) and pizza are also on the menu.

I got my delivery from the German store today and I'm now looking forward to some nice Linsentopf mit Speck, which apparently translates to Lentil soup with bacon

Ach! Meine herz ist Sehnsucht fur Deutsche Nahrung! (Oh! My heart is longing for German food!) Bro. Steve, I spent 1.5 years in Wiesbaden W. Germany (before the unification,) and I absolutely loved the food over there. I would love to have: Bratwurst, (the real kind not America's near facsimile.) Rindswurst, (like a brat, but beef, not pork.) Pommes-Frites mit mayonaise, (German french fries with mayo!) Jager Schnitzel, ( a pork steak, smothered in mushrooms in gravy!) ...and there was soooo much more. Ich habe für es jetzt Hunger! (I am hungry for it now!) ;D Ach! Chef klaus Chef Klaus benennt jetzt! Auf Wiedersehen! (Oh! Chef Klaus is calling now! Goodbye!) Ben

Tonights dinner I think will be burgers, something simple before Bible study tonight.

My Grandma [on my mothers side] is originally from Ukraine, and spent a few years working in Germany before finally coming to England. I have never had cause to go, although I have often thought Germany would be the first place in Europe I'd visit. I was brought up on food that most people around me had never heard of! [indeed, I've seen people pull all kinds of faces when they see some of my food!] Mind you, I never did take to that awful beetroot soup 'borshch' [spelling???] Perhaps I'd feel different if I tried it now I like bratwurst, but it's been quite a while since I've had the pleasure - it can be difficult finding a good quality sausage at a good economical price, so I'll make do with Sauerkraut and Schupfnudeln [potato noodles] this weekend Hmmn, all this talk... I also can truly say Ich habe für es jetzt Hunger! ;D

Our favorite sausage dinner is toad in the hole and we like to eat it in winter when it's howling cold out.
For supper tonight we had salad and grilled cheese sandwiches. The salad had blue cheese crumbles, pickled beets, carrots and cukes on it. It makes supper clean up easy after working in the garden all day.

I will make fried cabbage shreds in olive oil with leftover steak pieces and adding other fresh veggies, it will end up being a stir fry by the time I get done with it :-)

Hubby doesn't like my hash rounds so that's off the list from now on. I blame Waffle House for making me hooked lol.
Supper tonight will probably be Italian tuna potato bake with garlic veges on the side.
