Dear ladies, A friend sent me this PM a while back it looked helpful.... ........................................................................................... If you can get them, Simplicity has a couple of really simple jumper patterns. The numbers are 5917 and 9830. They are both labeled as "2 hour jumpers". If you have a JoAnn's near you, they are on sale now for .99. I get fabric at WM from the $2 a yard table to make my jumpers and also I get something lightweight to put under them and make a slip that's sewn into the jumper. For some fabrics you only need a shadow panel in the front or back and not a full slip underneath. I have found that even with darker or heavier fabrics, if you walk in front of a sunny window or door, the shadow of your legs still may show. These patterns include several different sizes. Just choose whatever size you normally buy. Home sewn clothes allow for what's called "ease of fit" which means they are designed so they won't be too tight or binding. I just use the same size I get in purchased clothes, which is usually a large or a 16. Being short, the main thing for me is the length but the plain fact is, when they show a model on the package and the dress hits her mid-calf, it will be nearly to my ankle...LOL

I have seen both of these patterns and they are nice and modest. I am planning to get them. I do not sew, but my mother-in-law does. She is planning to teach me and also sew a few things for me in exchange for things she may need at times. We are going in half on a sewing machine as hers is not doing so well these days. She is giving me her old one to practice on and she will teach me on the new one. I asked her to sew me some things for Christmas as it is hard to buy for us now with all the changes we are making. She will also be teaching me how to make my headcoverings for myself and the girls. I am very excited about learning to sew and not being at the mercy of the stores availability.

I am so glad you are going to learn how to sew. I'm still learning myself. My daughter is teaching me isn't that funny! I'm supposed to teach her . I haven't made a jumper before just a dress, jumpers are supposed to be very easy. You'll have fun learning from your grandmother it will be good memories for you. Blessings!

I will have to check into those patterns. Currently we were cape-style dresses and the girls, a few jumpers, but with the heat here, I'm leaning more toward jumpers for myself I'm such a wimp in the humidity! T-shirt fabric seems to really help with the heat for some reason. Debbie, what size is your Zoe? Iwonder if I'd have anything here. My dds wear 5/6, 7/8, 12 and 14 or ladies small. Deanna
