Sister Gail, I just wanted to re-welcome you on board. It is a blessing to see how the Lord does a better work when we get out of the way and let Him be Lord. Please let your husband know that we would love to have him on with the few of us brothers on here. We always like to have the thoughts of Christian brethren who are seeking the Lord. You siad: All I have to say about that is it is the Lord who opens and closes the womb according to His good pleasure, not ours. We are to be faithful with what He sees fit. Surely, this lady was misinformed or mistaken to call you selfish (then, she could be simply ignorant.) Again, welcome aboard, or perhaps I should say now, welcome to the Garden, come in, sit down, and have a tea with us. Bro. Ben

I only have one child as I've keep having miscarriages- so please don't judge me for having one child. I was on another forum and a woman called me selfish for only having one child. As a midwife apprentice I am often privilege to information others are not aware of about a certain individual. Many times I have heard criticism from a mother of many children about a mother or lady with few children or none at all. How it hurts me to hear these dear ladies with few or no children criticized for not having a larger family. when unknown to these critical women this dear lady is struggling with her burden of infertility. My heart goes out to you Sister Gail. May we e careful in our judgments. I think sometimes in our zeal for big families and desire to not be like the world in using birth control we go too far the other way in judging families that are small. Unless we know the person and their circumstances I think it is best to hold our tongue and pray. Either way it is for the Lord to deal with their hearts not us any way. Blessings Lisa

First of all Thank you Sisters and brothers, for your kindness and encouragement.
I hope I didn't embarrass anyone by saying about the miscarriages. I just wanted to be honest and upfront. A huge apology if I was a bit too personal.
This afternoon I went up into our attic and found some old curtains, guess what I made a longish veil myself by hand, I have no sewing machine. How great is our God ! The curtains are solid navy blue, goes with anything, and the curtain linings will make great veils, they are cream. I will be able to make 4-6 veils out of this.
I only made one and showed my husband he said, I looked beautiful, he said go ahead you have my blessing.
How great is our God!
I found loads of stuff out in the attic, I'm going to try to convert a pair of old pants into a skirt.
Thanks again for all of your fellowship and kindness it has helped me more than you'll ever know. God bless Sister Gail

Oh, that is so sweet! Praise the Lord! And what a prudent wife you are, remaking things and being so frugal. Good for you!

Dear sister Gail,
My friend once made me an apron from her curtains. We still have it .
My other friend made some nice coverings from curtains and another used a slip. ;D They both turned out nice.
Making a skirt out of pants, I've seen that done, sometimes people add material to make it fuller.
I'm not a great seamstress, I have a hard time trying to be creative, I have great ideas but someone else has to sew it for me, I just stick with the easy patterns. ;D
Let us know how it comes out and how you did it.
I'm glad to have you here with us.
Hope your having a great day.
Love sister, ~ Darlene ~

I was so blessed by reading your entries. WELCOME TO OUR GARDEN! I have also been judged for only having two children. Let me tell you both my Kids are here by the grace of God. Both are miracles and it is a Miracle I am still alive as with my first one I and he almost died. And I am not exaggerating. Yes, they think we just don't get it but honestly, it is that they just don't get it. They are blessed and if they only knew they would understand just how blessed they really are! I'm not talking about all woman with lots of children. ;)I'm talking about those that make judgments about the rest of us. Praise God for you and your husband. God is blessing you with many children (by caring for them) you just don't have to pay for them and provide for them. ;D That is how I looked at it over the years God gave me many children in my life I had the opportunity to Love and encourage and influence all for His Glory! Praise God!

I am a brand new member as of today! Hurray! I was so excited to find this out when I got home from church tonight. I thought I would try and introduce myself to you. ("Try" is the operative word!) Anyway, I am 56 years old - 57 this month. I am a homemaker and also care for my grandchildren full time. I had always been in the work force until my mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2002. Since we found out about that at 3:30pm in the afternoon and one hour later, I was let go at work, I have always felt it was the Lord's doing since I was then free to help my Dad care for my mom til she went home to be with the Lord. During the time of her care, I babysat some of my grandchildren and it has carried through until this day.
I belong to an Independent Fundamental Baptist church. We are conservative. Our ladies wear dresses. We do not believe in drinking, smoking, cussing, dancing, or going to movies. We sing the old time hymns of the faith. None of this new age, so-called "praise and worship" music for us! We want to sing songs about "the Blood". Without that precious Blood, none of us would have a home in Heaven.
I am married - to the same man - 37 years ago this past May. We have 3 children - all grown, and we have 6 grandchildren ages 3 - 11. I was not saved when I got married so when I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour, I became unequally yoked. My children accepted the Lord when they were around 4 years old. However, two of them are not living for the Lord and I have never seen any fruit in their lives. They do not attend church and neither does my husband. I take my grandchildren to church so that they, at least, will hear The Word of God. Two of those grandchildren are saved today.
My heart is heavy over my family. Only God knows if my children are truly saved or not. So, I pray that either God will convict their hearts and the hearts of their spouses and they will all get saved, or if they are saved and just backslidden that He would convict them so that they might repent and be reconciled back to the Lord. I would like to ask for prayer for my family, from anyone who feels led to pray over them with me. I have 2 daughters and one son.
It is a blessing to me to be able to be a small part of this forum. I pray that I might learn much from here and that I might also be a blessing to someone else.
Pam

I want to extend a warm and fond hello to all of the Brothers and Sisters who have joined our little family recently. I apologize for not welcoming each of you individually. I have been battling illness (again) lately and have only been back on the computer for a couple of days.
Y'all have come to a place that is very loving and kind. There is a wealth of information available not only as far as the Bible is concerned but in the area of practical living. Oh, from time to time we do disagree on things but the discussion usually remains civil except for the times we get someone whose purpose is their own personal agenda. Fortunately that does not happen often and when it does it is ended soon.
We are extremely blessed to have Brother Ben and Sister Darlene to administer the forums. They do a wonderful job!
In Christ, George
