I wanted to share what I was reading this morning. I love this verse, Jeremiah 6:16 says, "Thus saith the Lord, stand ye in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls." Isn't that what all of us here want, Gods original design for us? Those tried and true paths that the saints of old walked? That rest that can only be had in Him? After I read this I found some other verses that spoke to my heart about Gods paths. Jeremiah 18:15 "Because my people hath forgotten me, they have burned incense to vanity, and they have caused them to stumble in their ways from the ancient paths, to walk in paths in a way not cast up." How many of us have wasted our time in vanity, stumbling from the path God ordained for His people to walk in? That plain and simple path. Isaiah 42:16 "And I will bring the blind by the way that they knew not, I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them. When I think of where the Lord has brought me and what He has shown me, it has been as if I were blind and He has opened my eyes to his wonderful truths. I'm so thankful He has not forsaken me, but has been patient and kind. Isaiah 58:12 " "And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, the restorer of paths to dwell in" I believe everyone here has this heartbeat, to raise the standards in our lives to that of the Godly saints that have gone on before us, that which was lost somewhere and not passed on. We have breaches and waste places in our lives that God in his mercy will repair and restore if we love Him and seek Him with our whole hearts. Diana

Thank you for posting this sister Diana! Jeremiah 6:16 says, "Thus saith the Lord, stand ye in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls." The old paths, and the simple lifestyle, is rest for our souls. There is so much freedom and blessing in living for the Lord, and obeying His teachings, and simplifying our lives. Just think when a sister chooses not to wear make up or have to dress like everyone else at church, she chooses not to style her hair but to grow it out and fix it in a calm way, shes no longer convinced that she has to look, or smell, or act a certain way to fit in, or feel accepted, she finds her acceptance and contentment from the Lord. That is real freedom,... and blessing from the Lord.
When a Daddy and Mama decide to give their wombs to the Lord and no longer be in control of how many children they choose to have or not to have, that is true freedom, because you no longer feel like you carry the burden to make all the right decisions, what if you decide it is time to add a baby and unforeseen to you in the next year you loose your job, get in a car wreck, have severe health problems, or something to that effect. You would feel like you made a mistake or had bad judgment or discernment in deciding to add a child at such a time as this. What if you decided to have a child, or another child and your child came into this world with bad health problems, or it caused your wife bad health problems or even death. Then you might feel it was your fault, and a bad decision on your behalf.
We cannot see the future, we cannot foresee the path God will have us take, so that we can be conformed to His image. God knows the future and if we place the decision and guidance in His capable hands we then can rest in Him because, He knows what is best, and will walk with us, and comfort, and guide our paths. We must abandon ourselves completely to His will and His path for our life.We must let the Lord guide us in all our ways, we must do His will and not ours, we must live by Gods principles, not the principles of man (what man thinks is the good and right thing to do.). People will not understand they will look down on us, and judge us for our decisions, or lack of decisions as they see it. But our acceptance and comfort does not come from man, but from the Lord. The storms and valleys of life are needed to conform us to His image, and draw us close to Him, and to teach us His ways.
A husband and wife might decide to Homeschool, and to have their children sit with them in church (family worship), instead of shipping them off to the nursery, and S.S. classes, here is one...they might decide to get rid of the TV and movies, to remove that time wasting influence in their home, thats really strange to onlookers, though most people even the unsaved will agree and even praise your decision.
Here is another strange one to onlookers, to eat healthy, drink plenty of water, take herbs and hardly ever have to go to the doctors office. taking control of your health and not always having to be at the doctors office, and having to take this pill or that, and not having to be on this treatment or that. This is very strange to people, everyone is so eager to suggest you go to the doctor, instead of praying fervently for you first. The doctor should be our last resort. Instead prayer is our last resort, when the doctor is stumped and cannot fix the problem, then we go to God about it, when we should have gone to Him first.
Weak Christians thats what the church in America has become...Sad. We need to learn how to walk with God and how to hear His still small voice telling us what we should and should not do. We need to line everything up with scripture and learn Gods word, not just read it, but study it. We need to become strong in the Lord and learn how to stand alone (sweetly) at any cost. We need to be a light.Isaiah 42:16 "And I will bring the blind by the way that they knew not, I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them. This is so true, this reminds me of how the Lord has guided our path over the past 23 years of our saved life. Thank you Lord....The Lord has been so faithful, and such a sweet, loving, kind father to us. How could we but love Him and give Him our all?. We want to be totally yielded to Him. Has the path been easy, no. Has our path been a blessing? Yes. We can look back and see Gods loving, guiding hand through it all. When we act upon the light that God gives us, then He will give us more. We walk by faith not by sight. We look around us and see those around us living a certain way, and they are accepted by their peers, the Lord shows us that we should do different according to scripture, we want to be loved and accepted by those we church with, but we must obey God, and when we do we know we are well pleasing to Him which is all we truly need in life. Satan will whisper...you think your better than everyone else, How can you be right and everyone else wrong???...even godly brother or godly sister so in so does thus and such, why do you think you know better than they do???...even the pastor and his wife do it??? Make sure to not look around you, but to look everything up in scripture and line your life up with the word of God and the principles of God, you cant go wrong.Isaiah 58:12 " "And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, the restorer of paths to dwell in" Wow! What an honor to serve the Lord in this way. To lead others to stand alone and honor God with their life. To teach others to feel confident in who God made them to be, and to obey the Lord and His teachings without fear or compromise. To give God 100%, totally yielded to His cause and purpose for their life. We can look back and see the people God has sent across our path to teach us in the ways of the Lord, and we are so thankful for their faithful, unwavering testimony, witness, and walk with God. We are so thankful for these faithful brothers and sisters. May we likewise be found faithful to the end.
Love and prayers, ~ sister Darlene ~
