Here are two stories that I have come across lately.
6 year old little girl has it down
I was talking to a friend of mine's little girl and she said she wanted to be President some day. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, "If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?"
She replied, "I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people."
"Wow - what a worthy goal," I told her.
"You don't have to wait until you're President to do that. You can come over to my house and mow, pull weeds, rake my yard, and I'll pay you $50. Then I'll take you over to the grocery store, where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food or a new house."
She thought that over for a few seconds because she's only 6. And while her Mom glared at me, the little girl looked me straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?"
And I said, "Welcome to the Republican Party."
Her folks still aren't speaking to me.
REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH
The following was forwarded to me by a friend. I would like to give credit for it, but there was no name attached. “Today on my way to the Waffle House for breakfast I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read ‘Vote Obama, I need the money.’ I laughed. Once in the restaurant my server had on an ‘Obama 08’ pin; again I laughed as she had given away her political preference--just imagine the coincidence. When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to her that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. She stood there in disbelief while I told her that I was going to redistribute her tip to someone who I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight. I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I’d decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful. At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waitress was very angry that I gave away the money she did earn even though the actual recipient [apparently needed] the money more. I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.”

Sister Debbie
Let me be equally quick to add that I also believe in helping people. Although I think we need to be wise about how we help homeless people out. Years ago my Dad and I were coming out of a store when a man asked my dad for some money because he was hungry. Dad said he would not give him money but if he was hungry he would take him to McDonald's and buy him a burger. The guy said he just wanted money for food. Dad than gave him a gospel tract and started giving this man the gospel. The man than told my dad that he was not going to lie to him anymore what he really wanted was to go buy some drugs!!
Well, two things I glean from this is it is not wise when helping people to give them money. Secondly if we help lost people with material things without ever giving them the gospel we have not helped them with their real need.

Dear sisters,
I can relate to what yall are saying, we usually (unless prompted by God) buy homeless or begging people an '' up sized meal deal ''.
We agree with you Lisa they need the bread of life (gospel) more than they need nourishment. We take the opportunity to give them both. Psa 41:1 Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. I enjoy giving to the poor, though I can hardly find people who are really needy, most so called poor people are on welfare and they drive a better vehicle than we do, and their grocery carts are fuller than my one cart, and they dress in pretty nice clothes too.
The Lord is faithful to show us who to help. Sometimes He impresses us to help someone we know is not going to use the money wisely, or that really does not need a meal, but we follow the Lords leading.
To be homeless or needy is a sad state to be in, most have made bad discussions that have landed them in that life style. The bottom line is Satan has deceived them, and they find themselves living a life that most of them never thought they would, some are x- convicts, some are on drugs, some are mental, some are criminals that have still not been caught, and then there are those who are victims of bad circumstances, that most of the time they created by their poor choices. But whatever the cause, it is truly sad to think people live like this.
We have alot to be thankful for.
It's so good to have you here with us Lisa!
