I was wondering if anyone has a basic bread recipe. I have looked through all the recipes and I didn't see anything on breads. I tried making some last night... it wasn't pretty.. ;D

Dear sister, This is very easy and good. It does not need to rise twice like most breads. WHOLE WHEAT BREAD
1/3 c yeast
2/3 c oil ( I use canola or olive )
1 c honey ( I use raw )
6 c warm water
2 Tb salt
Whole wheat flour ( I grind hard white and hard red I use 1/2 and 1/2 this makes a real nice bread.) You could use unbleached if you want to.
Mix in a large bowl or mixer ( I use a Bosh Mixer a Kitchen aid is good also ) mix in order add Aprox. 12 to 14 c of flour until dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl then knead 5 min. divide into 5 or 6 loaves and spray bread pans then put in pans mash down evenly then let rise, not too much, just until it looks rounded and almost to the top of your pan now put into your preheated oven Bake 350 degrees for aprox 25-30 min. Take out let sit 5 min take out of pans place on cooling rack then take a stick of butter and rub over the tops of each loaf. Mmmm!
ENJOY! ~ Darlene ~

Dear Sister Darlene, I need to thank you for educating me about this. Now, I don't have any room to store wheat, let alone afford a wheat grinder or that wonderful Bosch machine that you talked about (not to mention no room for them-- We live in a very small two bedroom apartment), but you taught me that the reason that I couldn't make a decent loaf of whole wheat bread was that I wasn't using the right flour (I had no idea that there was more than just the whole wheat flour at my store), so off I went to the store to find the right stuff. I started at Walmart because that's where I do most of my shopping. They had two kinds of whole wheat flour, but neither one said that it was whole wheat bread flour, or that it was made from hard red or hard white wheat, sooooo, I kept looking. Then I went to the only other grocery store in our little town, and there, in the health food section was whole wheat bread flour made from hard red wheat!!! I also bought some carob powder and Stevia (Walmart has Stevia, but this was a dollar cheaper)!!! So, I actually have more to thank you for than just our new bread!!! This morning I made the bread from the recipe on the bag, using my bread machine. It passed the DS test!!! I was even able to slice it thinly enough to make it worth while to use this for our every day bread. ;D Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Linda

Dear Linda,
Praise the Lord! I'm so glad your bread turned out good.
Homemade bread is so warm and good and filling too.
I know quite a few people that make their bread in a bread machine. They really like the results and have fresh bread daily!.... I would, but I have to make alot at one time, my family eats almost three loaves! , (if that is all were eating). Often the day we make bread we eat the bread like a meal when it comes out fresh and hot. I like to make honey butter, by mixing raw honey and butter together until creamy, you can add orange flavoring too, that is sooooo good! Love, ~sister Darlene ~

I am so excited!!! Yesterday, I decided to try my hand at making bread by hand, instead of in my little bread machine. I didn't even know if I could knead bread because I've had both wrists operated on for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. I went looking for a recipe (I love doing this) on Google. I looked through several when I came upon this one called the "Lightest Best 100% Whole Wheat Bread Ever". I thought this was a great thing to call your recipe, and it sounded easy enough for this novice, even though it took so much kneading. If I couldn't handle it, DS could lend me his hands LOL!!!I figured if I could do this I could pretty much do anything I wanted to with my hands, so I printed it out and gave it a shot. Oh, my!! I have never seen anything like this come from MY kitchen!!! I think after I get a couple of new bread pans, bigger ones, anyway, or maybe a couple more of the same size that I have (8 1/2" x 4 1/2") I will now only have to make bread once a week (at least after we get used to having homemade bread around all the time ) This stuff is amazing!! Anyway, here is the recipe for your eating pleasure!! Lightest 100% whole wheat bread anywhere! Recipe by Maxine Meyers. This is the lightest 100% whole wheat bread anywhere! Nobody believes it when I tell them it is made from 100% whole wheat. The secret is the three risings. I have had people tell me that they did not like whole wheat at all but after trying this recipe want nothing else. Don't let the three risings scare you. This bread is so easy because you can start it and walk away, come back and walk away. Your family will love homemade bread not just when it comes hot out of the oven but for days on end. To start... o 3 Tablespoons yeast o 4 cups warm water o 4 cups whole wheat flour Mix these ingredients together and let sit until double. (Usually 15-30 minutes.) This step is called a sponge and is very important to allow the yeast to get a head start. Add... o 1/2 cup butter or vegetable oil o 2/3 cup honey or molasses o 3 teaspoons salt o 6-8 cup whole wheat flour Mix this together and knead for 15 -20 minutes if kneading by hand. Place in oiled bowl, cover and let rise again until double. (About 30 minutes) Punch down and shape in pans. Cover and let rise again until double. (20-30 minutes). Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Oil top of bread for a nice shiny crust. *If I have any left over cooked cereal, I add it and the bread even gets better! Add about a cup to the recipe. This is absolutely the best and lightest whole wheat bread that I have ever tasted and people who don't even like whole wheat will ask for the recipe. It will keep moist for days and makes great French toast. Enjoy, Linda

Dear Sisters, Just an update about the bread recipe I posted a few days ago. I bought 3 9 1/2"X5 1/2" bread pans when we went shopping the other day. I made the recipe again today and got 3 loaves of bread from it. They are just about perfect!!! I read the recipe again, and realized that it doesn't specify how many loaves it makes, so it must be for 3 loaves. Linda

Thank you Linda,
I tried the recipe for the Lightest Wheat Bread and it is truly wonderful. I cut the recipe in half and it still made 2 loaves of bread. I used the 9X5 pans -- the bread just wasn't has tall as it should have been. I think this bread will become a staple in my household. It is a marvelous way to introduce whole grains into the diet.
Thank you for posting the recipe Donna

Sisters, thank you for posting the recipes..I have my old tried and true recipe, but am always looking to try a new one :-)
We went out to a place to eat back a few months ago and they served up some butter, I am guessing it was whipped margarine.. it was cinnamon/sugar and margarine blended together..an interesting taste..sort of cinnamon toast minus the toast :-)
God bless, Sister Penny
