I did a double batch of laundry soap this weekend, and used 4 cups of shredded pink Zote, 2 cups of borax, 2 cups washing soda, and I used 1/2 gallon of boiling water, I first melted the soap in the water on low and then added more cold water to the pot about 25 more cups and stirred in the borax and washing soda..I bottled it up then, which was WRONG, as I have really thick, almost like whipped cream in the jugs, so I just have to use 1/4 cup per load, I make my soap for my next door neighbor too...I use 1 cup of white vinegar in the rinse cycle, you can put that in the fabric softener area in the washer or a downey ball, it works to pull the soap from the clothing and cleans out the washer too...I also only line dry my clothing, sure the towels are a bit crispy but we like the scratchiness...but the sheets are just purely a blessing...sweet smelling and fresh :-)
God bless, Sister Penny
