we do not have a sub thread for homeschooling that I am aware of. I would think it would be ok for you to post here. I homeschool too but my baby is graduating this year. ;D mixed emotions on that.

Dear Sister Nancy, My daughter is 18 now, she starts university in London this September....My son is 12 and I have prayed hard about being able to provide a Godly education for him. I became progressivley more convicted of this responsibility and the need for it as I studied the Word. I also work in a secular school (will stop next month...and will not return to that enviroment , but thats another story)It was becoming increasingly important that I homeschool but how? its not the norm in the UK and against the law in Germany where I was to go and live when leaving here this year. (DH job) so I prayed. I feel the Lord has really answered my prayers as he led me to find a small church in Scotland, non denominational, Bible believing, scripturally sound, belivers baptism, born-again church, in the midst of such appostasy in Scotland, this was a delight to my heart and then....they have a small (max 30 students) school in the church, run by parents and started at a kitchen table 20 years ago with 1 family. To cut a long story short, Will is going to go there in August and my husbands job in Germany? the company has done the impossible!! told him he can live in Scotland and work from home. DH visited the school...as an athiest physicist, he was particularly interested in the science program but found no fault. He says its ok to teach Gods creation as long as they also hear other theories. He examined the curriculum and said it was fine. He was impressed with the morality and discipline and said yes. WOW. It is wonderful, prayers, devotions every day, learning scripture...its the Accredited Christian Education system...maybe you have heard of this? It will not be perfect but believe me, its 110% better than what my son has had to date where he is ridiculed for believing in the giant myth of a creator God and targetted in the Humanities class for not being loving and tolerant enough to accept a red thread to tie round his wrist, expressing Bhuddist universal love for his fellow man....blah de blah!! SO.....its not a homeschool- homeschool but it is more than I ever dreamt of, an environment steeped in scripture, Christ driven and is a wonderful home for my son, I give thanks every day for this. Sister Allene <><

sister Allene, we belong to a homeschool group that is a legal group for homeschoolers. HSLDA, they have all of us homeschoolers here in the united states praying for the homeschoolers in Germany, France, and Poland. We have been fiercely praying for the families in Germany as the state were trying to take the children out of the homes and put the parents in jail. I am not sure the latest updates on that situation. I just keep praying. We have co-ops here similar to what you describe in Scottland. some are held in churches and some are smaller and held in homes. My son did co op for all his high school sciences and math. My daughter did ABeka DVD's. both enjoyed what they had. Praise God that he worked that out for you so wonderfully!!!!!

We're homeschooling our children down here in Guatemala. We use Landmark's Freedom Baptist curriculum, and supplement with Saxon math and some Rod & Staff readers.
I'd love to swap homeschooling ideas with folks here!

Hi I just got back from Seattle today where we attended the Home School curriculum fair. It was so much fun and many vendors. I bought 3rd grade ABEKA this year. It is what I have used the past two years and I like it. I also bought 2 books, grammar and root words from Critical Thinking Co. I received a 10% discount and free shipping and handling by purchasing my books there. We also went to a few second hand stores and bought reading books for the summer. It was a lot of fun. It would be nice if you who home school shared what you all used Have a good evening Love Sis Debbie

Sounds like you got a good deal, Sis. Debbie.
I'm having trouble with my son in math. I'm not sure how to help him. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to use with him? He will be starting in the 7th grade this year but we are just finishing up 5th grade math. I'm very concerned about this.

I'm not sure what to suggest for a maths curriculum. Here we use Hease & Harris, which is a series of maths books which was originally started by some local Christian maths teachers when they discovered that South Australia didn't have a maths curriculum! Our schooling system is different to other states so their curriculum doesn't work for us, and now I think almost every single school in SA uses the Hease & Harris books, even the government schools, because they are very clear and easy to learn from. Although they aren't strictly Bible-based (it's maths, so I'm not sure how they could be) I know they are written by a Christian company since I know the owners and a number of the writers/editors. Although, having said that, when we were learning about pi it said that the definition of pi is first mentioned in the Bible, when they were building the temple! However, I'm not sure where you could get these books since I gather you're in America? They're sold in most bookshops over here. As to being worried about your son falling behind, I wouldn't so much. Often kids take a long time to grasp something, and then all of a sudden it clicks. I was like this for both maths and spelling but now I'm good at both (I'm fifteen now) but it only clicked a few years ago.
I hope this might possibly be of some help.

I use Rod & Staff only. There is nothing better or biblically sound as this curriculum. Jmo.
