My children have been going to Bible School at a local Baptist church that I used to attend as a child. They came home last night and said they had drawn pictures of God.
This is the second time this has happened; the first time it was in a Sunday School at a different Baptist church. My dd said a child spoke up and said, "God is spirit" and the teacher said, "I know, but draw what you think He must look like."
This doesn't seem right to me. Anyone else have any thoughts?

Sounds to me like the pastor needs to let your daughter start teaching the class. Just how do you draw a Spirit? This teacher is filling their little minds with fluff. Children are quite capable of learning great truthes from scripture. My children come up with the most fascinating observation about God. We under-estimate the spiritual sensitivity of children. But, alas, this the climate of many churches in 2007, but thankfully not all.

Kind of reminds me of my catholic childhood and a cathecism class where our teacher said to draw what we thought God looked like. I simply traced the picture of the priest off the books we had and she thought it was great...maybe because the priest is thought be just a little below God in most catholic's eyes.
As for your delimna, i agree with what i have read so far, there is no way for us to draw God since God is Spirit and those who worship Him do so in Spirit and in truth. Seems like leadership in our churches are in serious trouble.
