Hello to all. A very good woman who is dear to me is dying of cancer. She was diagnosed a few weeks ago, took 2 treatments of chemo, got terribly sick and decided to stop the chemo. She is restricted to her bed now and Lord only knows when she will die, but it will be soon. She is almost 80, so she's has a 'full life'. She will be greatly missed by MANY people! Even though she is nearly 80, she had a full schedule every week till a few weeks ago. She'd visit the youth home, girl's home, women's jail, retirement and nursing home, and more every week!! Of course she'd bring her Bible along She was the leader of a woman's Bible study. She visited many shut ins, including my Grandma (she has done SO much for my grandma over the years). Also, her husband of 60 years has Alzheimer's pretty bad; she was taking care of him too. I've known her ALL my life; she was even my Sunday school teacher when I was young, and also my children's teacher when we visited Grandma's church. She is one of the sweetest women I've ever known; a true Titus 2 lady. It is rather shocking to know that such a fine woman will be leaving us soon, but also comforting to know she will be with the Lord.
Now to my point. For some reason, her family (children) will not let anyone visit. Maybe she looks really bad??? Don't know. I've been praying about a way to show my love to her and it came to me at 3 this morning ;D. I have decided the children and I will record a tape of us singing hymns, reading scripture and maybe reciting a few godly poems and stories. We really enjoy singing together and usually only sing in private; however we will use singing as a ministry when we visit nursing homes, shut ins, etc.
So, what scripture verses should I quote?? Encouraging, uplifting, comforting, etc. Could be a whole chapter ... whatever strikes you as appropriate for the occasion; I'd like to at least fill one whole side of the tape. I have a few in mind already, however I'm sure with more heads involved it will be quicker ... I feel that time is running out for this to be done.
Thank you for any ideas you have!!
