How exciting! You wont regret it in the long run, it's worth it! God will bless!
We have the children's Pilgrim Progress book, my children really like it. We read books to them that are deeply spiritual and they like those too. ( Harvey and Tate books) have you ever heard of them? I told Bro. Denny about them when we were last up there in the summer of 2003 and now he sells them on his website! I'm glad that he is selling them because they are great! books. I have a friend here in Tn that sells them too. They have a few children's stories like Asking Father and Praying father and Jessica's Prayer, Billy Brey...and I like the books called They Knew their God...They have many more good ones we have 34 of their books. What a treasure! I thought you might be interested.
You sure are a blessing and I'm glad your back!
That's a great name New Papa... ...I thought we had a new member! ;D I'm so happy for you and your precious wife that the Lord has so greatly blessed you with a healthy, beautiful baby boy! Your abundantly blessed brother.
Have a great evening.

I'm going to be purging our home of videos and dvds. I can't get rid of them all without my husbands approval so I will start with just mine. Oh oh my goodness there are so many.

I would just like to let you all know that I am purging my home of all videos/DVDs...I did this a year ago, but then started second guessing myself, and I started watching them again, but God has convicted me so much that I don't dare quench the Holy Spirit again...I want to grow and learn about our Lord, and I don't think it is possible being whishy washy and feeding my flesh with Hollywood garbage....I am so excited, I really feel good about this move...I am getting rid of even the so called wholesome ones...I am even putting my "Veggie Tale" ones in the box Does anyone else know anything about Veggie Tales? I know you do Darlene...Please share...they are going anyway ...It is so wonderful when you finally listen and obey God's calling. ..Pray for me and I shall pray for you all....Let's all Glorify our Lord....Love ya all...Sis Debbie

Sister Debbie, let me give you a link to an article from a Fundamental Baptist Church about just one of the Veggie Tales characters. For the sake of modesty and in honor of the women on the site I will not go into any detail at all about this character. Please be advised that what you see may shock you but it is well done.

Let me give you a short quote from the site.
"The Veggie Tales corporation is watering down scripture and promoting a lack of respect for the sanctity of God's Holy Word by producing videos where a talking head of lettuce with a New York accent skips through uncomfortable Bible passages in order to make a story more appealing to children." Pastor Deacon Fred explained, "Now, we're all for getting kids saved and indoctrinated, but some Christian psychologists tell me that the children who watch these videos believe that when they arrive at the Pearly Gates, they'll be greeted by a talking tip of asparagus who will usher them into an eternity run by a giant tomato and a thousand pieces of flying celery. . . and then there's that dancing cucumber. If they made that vegetable the devil, we might not be as concerned. "
WOW!!!

I think that is a "joke site" if I remember correctly.
There is one site that is updated and maintianed and it is a complete mockery of Christians, however, it looks completely authentic and it takes a few mintues to figure that out.

Joke site or not, Veggie Tales is not good. I'd strongly advise everyone to get rid of their videos if you do have them. It might help to first sit down (by yourself or with your spouse) and watch a video - have your Bible handy. See how many things they show in a wrong way. Also, they bring so much of the world into the videos. David delivering pizza, giant chocolate bunnies, etc. How do you expect your children to really understand God's word? I think these videos will greatly confuse them ... and maybe even scare them for life. One more bone I'd like to pick about the videos - they are so dumbed down. Children can understand the Bible if you take the time to open it up and read it to them. I thank God I did not know about Veggie Tales till my children were old enough to watch a video and say "MOM!!! They really messed up that story". My .02 Bless you all.

Joke site or not if you read what is said and look at the graphic they are exactly correct in their assessment of this particular Veggie Tales character.

Oh, I'm not disagreeing about the Veggie Tales...we don't watch them because I think it's disrespectful to have vegetables jumping around talking about something so serious. I just wanted to let anyone reading the boards know that I THINK that sight is supposed to be a joke...if you surf it and read closely-something is wrong but it is very cleverly worded so you miss it at first. Whatever...back to the reguarly sceduled topic...

Okay, everyone calm down. I decided to do a Google search and the site is definitely a joke site. There is no Landover Baptist church. The site was created by Chris Haper, an atheist and also an racist. Unfortunately people who go to this site who know nothing about what real Christianity is all about will read this stuff and assume that all Christians are like that. Anyway, here is a link I found called Rehinking Veggie Tales that is a bit better and written from a Christian perspective. And Chris Harper needs some serious prayer. www.crossroad.to/articles2/2002/veggie.htmHave a good day

My apologies. I had no idea of the origin of that site. My goodness. I must admit the article was well done. Again, please accept my apologies for leading you to a bogus web site.

I cannot apologize deeply enough for the link I provided to not only a bogus but also an offensive web site. Please forgive the action. I am deeply saddened to even think I may have caused anyone here any offense. It is not my intent to impose my will or even my standards on anyone else. I believe it is relatively easy to know that I am a God-honoring and God-fearing man. I base my existence on God's Holy Word. Something such as this troubles me greatly. I have gotten right with God about it. I pray you will allow me to get right with you about it.
In Christ, George
