Sister Darlene (or other sewers)
How much fabric is needed for an infant dress? I am a wannabe sewer and have a stash of calico prints....most of them are 1/2 yard or less pieces, but I do have some larger cuts that I would be happy to send for little Melody's clothes

I just checked my patterns and they all say you need at least a yard per dress. However, I've made some really cute dresses using several co-ordinating fabrics, so Darlene might be able to use the pieces you have.

Dear sister Donna,
Bonnie ( my oldest daughter) made me a baby gown ( I use these for the first few weeks, and at night after that ) she made it out of baby blue broad cloth (this is before we found out it is a little girl ) It took her a yard of material. She did a great job.
Bloomers take about a 1/2 yard, or maybe a little less. We use bloomers. It will be winter when she is born, so we will make quite a few so she will always have a pair on.
We often mix match materials because we need material for making dresses and often do not have enough of one type. They turn out really nice.
We need simple little new born, and up patterns for dresses. We have 2 year and up patterns.
It's hard finding nice long, modest pretty little girl dresses any more. Good patterns are hard to find too. I haven't had a girl in 8 years. Wow thats a long time, I gave all my baby clothes and accessories to the girls for their baby dolls years ago. Now it's time to make and buy new things...How fun.
It blesses our heart for all you sweet ladies on this sight to be so excited for us, and with us about the blessing, and forth coming of our new baby girl. Yall sure do put a healing balm on my heart, (and take the place of our family who are not for us, and do not care.) Yall are our family, and we will spend all Eternity together in Heaven...Wont that be Grand!
Thank you both (and others here) for your love. Big Hug and on the cheek.
Love your sister and friend, ~ Darlene ~
