We had a great Sunday service. The singing was good, the spirit was sweet, and the study was productive. We began our study on The Doctrine of Salvation. With all the buzz words out there in the plain movement: Calvinist, Arminian, eternal security, apostasy, etc., I decided it would be great to go through a systematic study of just what Bible savlation is. Darlene and the children (and me,) looked up the verses that applied to our study and we discussed each point. It was fun and a blessing.

Bro. Ben,
That sounds like a good service. I always enjoy hearing about what the Lord is doing in other people's lives. I am sure it is good for your children to have reinforced what true salvation really is. Blessings Lisa

We continued our series of messages on the Doctrine of Salvation: Justification: Imputation.
Imputation: To charge to the account of another, to reckon, to count, to ascribe.
We looked at imputation as it is presented in the scriptures in the following three ways:
1. Original Sin. The sin of Adam was imputed the the entire human race. Rom. 5:12
Rom 5:12 ¶ Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
2. Atonement. The sins of God's people were imputed to Christ. Lev. 1:1-4, 3:2, Isaiah 53:4-6
Lev 1:1 ¶ And the LORD called unto Moses, and spake unto him out of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying, Lev 1:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man of you bring an offering unto the LORD, ye shall bring your offering of the cattle, [even] of the herd, and of the flock. Lev 1:3 ¶ If his offering [be] a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish: he shall offer it of his own voluntary will at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD. Lev 1:4 And he shall put his hand upon the head of the burnt offering; and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him.
Lev 3:2 And he shall lay his hand upon the head of his offering, and kill it [at] the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and Aaron's sons the priests shall sprinkle the blood upon the altar round about.
Isa 53:4 ¶ Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. Isa 53:5 But he [was] wounded for our transgressions, [he was] bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace [was] upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Isa 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
3. Justification. The righteousness of Christ was imputed to the believer when saving faith was placed in his work on their behalf at Calvary. Rom. 4:3-8
Rom 4:3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. Rom 4:4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. Rom 4:5 ¶ But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Rom 4:6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, Rom 4:7 [Saying], Blessed [are] they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Rom 4:8 Blessed [is] the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
We have been enjoying these messages and they are very edifying as we build up our most holy faith.
