hello all.. this week i did an experiment.. and that was making a cape dress using a sheet.. i know some might say why?? but here you can pick up a king size flat sheet for 50 cents to one dollar at a thrift store... i am very fond of my two dresses that i made... and you can get pretty much any color you want..

That is great Elizabeth! We use sheets all the time to make play dresses, slips, bloomers, or if there in great new looking shape we make church dresses. I collect them anywhere I can find them. If the pattern is not good for a dress I save them for future quilts. Sheets are a great idea.

I always pick up the 100% percale sheets I find at thrift stores and garage sales, they make great slips and under garments too...and coverings if you wear a hanging veil...my latest find was a beautiful full sized pink percale sheet...I am working on designing some undergarments similar to victorian times without all the lace and fluff of course...
God bless, Sister Penny

That is a great idea. Thank you for sharing that. There is a free place near here and people donate so much that they throw stuff away. I might go see if they have some sheets. Us locals call it the free place because it's like a thrift store, but you don't pay for anything. You get stuff and walk out.

Thank you!! I did make another dress about a month ago.. And it turned out really pretty.. I got a king size sheet that had a denim feel and used that to make a dress.. Right now I am not in need of dresses Someone from the church that I attend now gave me a total of 9 dresses that her daughters could not wear anymore.. I am soo blessed that everyone of them fit me!! When we used to live in florida they had a place where people dropped off any kind of books that they didnt want anymore and then you could go and get as many books as you would like for free.. Thats where alot of my books come from.. Hope you have a very blessed day!! Blessings, Elizabeth
