I'm new to this forum. My name is Jeff and I'm married to Jenn. We have two daughters, Tina, 7, and Katie, 5. We live in Lancaster County and attend an Independent Baptist church (KJV). Jenn is the only one who covers at our church. I grew up Mennonite and Jenn grew up Baptist. We met as young adults while attending a Brethren in Christ church. Soon after we married we started attending a Baptist church and the church we are at now is a new church in Harrisburg - only a year old. We occasionally visit a Conservative Mennonite church to expose our children to a better display of modesty and Biblical living (e.g. head coverings). Jenn homeschools and is a home-maker. Jenn and the girls wear dresses or skirts. I do not. Oh how I wish we could find a Covered Baptist assembly in South-Central Pennsylvania. Until then, I will enjoy this discussion board. - Jeff K., Elizabethtown, PA

Hello Jeff (And Jenn). Welcome to the group! My husband, Rich, home churches our family. Although we live in a area that is predominantly Amish, Beachy & Mennonite, we seem to find ourselves unable to find a like minded church. I stay at home, we homeschool, and I cover also. We wondered if we might visit a conservative church occasionally (Not to join) in our area as you mentioned you do....but we are struggling as to if they would accept us. We were not raised conservative and often feel like outsiders. There is plenty of fellowship here! Welcome!

Welcome to the group! My husband, Jeff, and I are plain fundamentalist Christians also, we hold strong to our Baptist roots and I wear modest dress usually w/a full apron or cape dresses and covering. We home worship here as we have not found a group to fellowship with that is in our area.
Many of the people we know are more liberal and we are sort of the odd ones out there...
We are praying for you all there. Sister Penny

Thanks for the welcome.
Sister Ellen, I suppose each church may be different in how they respond to visitors, especially if the visitors are "different." I would hope that most conservative churches would react positively to visitors.
I have considered doing home church. I sometimes am disappointed in the sisters at my church, when I see high heels, short hair, make-up, and jewelry. That's not the example I prefer for my young daughters. But, since I do not want to forsake the assembly, I keep going and resolve to provide my family with sound Biblical instruction in our home. It is one of my most important duties.

Welcome to the group here Jeff. My wife Sherriee , daughter Hannah (11) and my self(Randy) are Conserative Mennonites here in Montana. I grew up in a Independent Baptist church ,but because of liberal and other issues left over 15 years ago. I think you will find a very good group of believers here that want to live and follow after the Lord. May your time here be a blessed one.

I think this is a common problem people on this board have. At the moment I go to a Baptist Union church nearby with my family, although I consider myself to be simply a Christian, without any denomination. I'm 15 so I feel I ought to go to my parents' church.
At times I feel like I don't belong because no-one else my age wears modest clothing (and most haven't even heard of headcovering). The only people who wear skirts are older ladies and very young girls, and I think I'm the only one who wears a skirt all the time. The other teenage girls wear very immodest clothing all the time, if they wear a skirt it's a mini-skirt, they also wear trousers and shorts, and shirts with low necklines and their shoulders showing. I don't understand how even non-Christians, the general public, can look at the sort of clothing girls today wear and not think it inappropriate!
As far as I know, there is only one Mennonite church in Australia, about 1500km away! Although I believe there is an Exclusive Brethren church in South Australia, there are no modest-dressing, head-covering churches that I know of. If I ever visit America I would very much like to visit one (and all of you lovely people!).
Personal grouching aside, welcome to the forum! It is a very good place and I love visiting it and reading about what others who believe the same way I do are doing and thinking. I'm sure you will be very welcome here.
From Rachel.
