Hi there,
I thought I would introduce myself.
My name is Nia and I am in Australia. I am mother to 5 precious children whom we homeschool.
My husband and I have always been involved in very charismatic churches but are finding more and more worldliness, especially within the children. Consequently we have sought the Lord and studied the Bible and have concluded that the plain and separated way is Biblically correct (including the women being covered).
We still have much learning to do and unfortunately we have no like minded fellowship over here hence me joining this site. We are however keen to correspond with others and learn from your experience.
Thank you and God bless, Nia

Welcome to our site dear sister Nia,
Most of us on this site do not have like minded fellowship...do not worry. We can encourage each other. It is lonely but I remember feeling quite lonely before I covered and I was very actively involved in my church. People are friendly but not your friend. This type of christianity has been going on for a very long time.
I have come to the point in my christian walk where I try to be to others what I want others to be to me. Maybe the Lord will put a true christian in my town across my path. But until then I want to try and keep a good attitude and just be a faithful servant of the Lord. It is not easy being alone. Humans desire fellowship of like minded people.
May the Lord give you other believers that are like minded in your area to encourage you in your walk for the Lord. We will be glad to be your friend and brethren here on this site.
Were so glad to meet you.
It is important to raise your dear children for the Lord, you only have one chance then their out from under your roof and the world gets it's chance. We must instill Gods truths deep within their soul. Teach by word and example, with no compromise. What the parent does in moderation the child will do in excess. That's a sobering thought.
Blessings to you dear sister in Christ.
Love, ~ sister Darlene ~

Hello!
Wow... just wow. After almost two years of being the only Australian on the board, two more have joined within a month of each other! I am so excited! I have been praying to meet more headcoverers from Australia! Thankyou, Lord!
Okay, now I've gotten that out of my system...
My name is Rachel, I've just turned sixteen and I live near Adelaide in South Australia. Are you in SA or elsewhere? If you're in SA, I'd love to meet up with you sometime!
Well, both of my parents were raised Anglican but my father became Baptist over in England (he's from England) when he was young and then moved to Australia. I think my mother still considers herself to be Anglican, but for the first 10 or 11 years of my life we were in a non-denominational church (most similar to Baptist) which was fairly conservative about worldliness and such.
Then the church basically imploded on itself, something to do with the leadership/elders which I'm not entirely clear on, I was fairly young at the time, and we spent the next 4 or 5 years 'floating' around. We spent some time at a liberal Anglican church and quite a bit of time at a VERY charismatic church which my father has recently re-commenced attending. About eighteen months ago we moved house and began attending the local Baptist church.
During the time we weren't really at a church, I did a lot of personal Bible study. I eventually stopped attending (refused to attend) the charistmatic church my father was going to and stayed at home to study the Bible by myself. I learnt a lot of things in that time which aren't taught in mainline churches over here; headcovering for example.
I've worn skirts for most of my life and always preferred modest clothing, and I started headcovering two years ago, at the beginning of my first year of SOTA (as opposed to face-to-face school). I'm the only one in my family who wears modest clothing or a headcovering, although in the past few months my mother has been much more open with me and asking about my reasons and thoughts on it (she just sort of accepted it before, disagreed with me but encouraged me, if you understand what I mean?), and I pray that God is working in her on it.
Recently I've been doing a lot of thinking, taking a step back from my life and looking at how I've come in recent years. It's amazing to see how God has been working in my life, even when I was small, and I didn't realise it at the time! I've still got a very long way to go but I'm trusting in God to help me and guide me.
So now you've had a not-so-brief introduction and history of me, I'll say once again, how wonderful it is to have you on the board! I was beginning to think there weren't any other headcovering Christians in Australia and over the past month I have encountered several! I am so thankful for this. There is another lady on this forum, Hilja, who joined recently and is from Victoria.
Anyway, thankyou again for joining, and welcome! I look forwards to fellowshipping with you.
from Rachel.

Welcome Nia I am very new to skirt wearing (not quite a year ago) and even newer to covering (I use a wide headband and started just a week ago!!!). We don't go to a charasmatic worldly church, but I am the only one there who "covers".

Thank you everyone, it is so encouraging to find fellowship with likeminded believers.
We are in Western Australia, down south, near Albany. In September we are hoping to make it to the Australian Christian Brotherhood seminar in Queensland. We will be driving and camping so it will be quite an adventure. They are an Anabaptist fellowship with whom we've been in contact.
Sister Darlene, you are so right about friends. The definition of friendship has changed so much, I suspect it is because everyone is so busy nowdays. The friends I have who live near me I only see if there is church or a meeting or some kind of formal get together. No longer do people just drop in for a cuppa or phone just for a chat. It's sad because so many people are desperately lonely and nobody has time for them.
Rachel I commend you on being so obedient at such a young age. At your age I was still following the crowd!
Emily, it is great that you have begun your journey and that you have some support and friendship here. I felt a bit self conscious at first but I must say that strangers are so much friendlier when I have my covering on. Of course it does not matter what people think but I have found that encouraging.
Dear Hilja, it must be so difficult to not have the Godly support of your husband. It will be great to be friends who can support and encourage each other, as it will be to all here. Worldliness is everywhere and it can be so hard to go against the norm but God's Word stands forever and ultimately that's what we'll be judged by.
More about us. Our oldest son is 14, next we have a daughter who is 11, then we have twin boys who are 7 and last we have a daughter who is 4. We homeschool them all and they keep us very busy but it is wonderful to bring them up in the ways of the Lord and to see them growing in their personal relationships with God.
When I have some time I will post my 11 year old's testimony. It is very moving and confrontational also. She shares it at local churches which has suprised me so much because she is so shy but God has given her a boldness to share it publically.
It has been lovely to meet you all.
Blessings to you all, Nia

"We are in Western Australia, down south, near Albany." Okay. I'm pretty much due east of you across the gulf. You really are south, I looked at it on a map! I've never been to WA but I'd like to visit sometime. I'm just not sure about crossing the Nullabor... If I do go to WA I'd love to visit maybe. RobertColumbia said, "If I may ask, what is SOTA? Is it a distance education program?" SOTA stands for School of the Air. It's not a distance education *program* per se, but it is distance education. SOTA usually only covers the primary school years, and there are several in each state, one for each district. Most states then have a correspondence college of some sort which covers high school for the entire state. I've gone into it all in more detail here coveredbaptists.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=homeschool&action=display&thread=3903. I figured since I was talking mostly to an Australian I didn't have to describe it too much... most people here have some vague idea what School of the Air is. But a lot of the OAC (Open Access College, South Australia's SOTA-high-school) students my age are actually homeschoolers, and SOTA is often classified as 'school-at-home'. No school uniform! Anyway, great to hear from you! from Rachel.
