Last month my parents went to file their taxes the lady at H&R Block asked my mom if she wanted to enter their drawing to win a free TV set. Mom said no thanks we don't watch TV and left it at that.
Fast forward to two weeks ago my mom went in to file my sister's taxes. The lady again asked mom about the drawing. Mom again said no thanks. The lady kept insisting and mom kept saying no. The lady would not give up so mom thought that rather than argue and since we would not win anyways relented and said fine. A week later the lady called and said we won the TV and could we come in Tuesday and pick it up. Also they wanted to put her and my dad's picture in the paper announcing the winnings. If we did not want it we could just give it to somebody. Well we did did not want to give somebody something that we consider sinful and for testimony's sake especially we sure did not want our picture in the paper saying we won a TV.
My dad called back later and said Thanks but we do not watch television and we really do not have any use for this. However if it was some other kind of gift we would not have a problem receiving it or having our picture taken.
So they called back and asked how we would feel about instead of the TV they give us a $150.00 gift card to Walmart and a $150.00 gift to our local grocery store. That we can accept, and were very thankful for especially since my dad has been out of work since Thanksgiving.
