Are there any reputable groups that children can join that teach solid Christian values, have camping trips, and crafts?
In light of the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts allowing homosexuals to join, we should promote healthier organizations to our grand children and friends.

It's little sad that Scout-aged children are even thinking about sexual orientation. Is Scouts different in America? I haven't heard of anything like this happening with the Scouts or Guides in Australia. I mean, I'm not terribly happy with them because they seem to have camps and hikes every weekend, forcing my sister to miss a lot of church, but all things considered, they're not too bad. I was quite impressed that they pray (as in Christian praying) at the beginning and end of each week's meeting. I'm a little confused by the concept of Girl Scouts (here, we have Scouts, who used to be Boy Scouts but are now co-ed, and Girl Guides). There seem to be a lot of Christians who are unhappy with them, so I can only assume there's something quite wrong with them. The Guides in Australia aren't too bad, although they're less adventurous than Scouts. Anyway, to answer your question, I know of two: AWANA, which was brought to my attention by Jordyn, who used to be on this forum. It seems to be co-ed. You can read about it here: awana.org/ (American site) www.awana.org.au/ (Australian site) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Awana (Wikipedia) Girl's Brigade, which was brought to my attention by a close friend of mine from the homeschooling and Baptist communities. It's just girls (obviously). You can read about it here: www.gbworldwide.org/ (International site) www.girlsbrigadeaustralia.org/ (Australian site) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Girls'_Brigade (Wikipedia) (the link is being funny - copy the entire thing into the bar) I hope this helps! Rachel.

Thank you for the resources, Rachel.
I noticed that the Evangelical alternatives article did not include Awana. Oversight? Or perhaps a concern about the organization itself?

As Boy Scouts now say they will allow homosexual leaders, a large group of parents have left and formed an alternative Scouting type organization based on Christian values. Here's the link Trail Life USA
