Aussies set to experience the 'marriage battle'
Friday, August 11, 2017 | Steve Jordahl (OneNewsNow.com)
Thus far, Australia has been able to hold on to a traditional definition of marriage – but it will be holding its first ever nonbinding mail-in vote next month on the fate of the institution there.
Homosexual activists and their supporters are trying to block the vote fearing that, as in the U.S., most Australians will oppose changing millennia of tradition and science. But Parliament wants the public input, and many – like former Prime Minister Tony Abbott – are asking them to retain natural marriage.
"If you don't like same-sex marriage, vote no. If you're worried about freedom of speech and freedom of religion, vote no," advised Abbott. "And if you don't like political correctness, vote no – because this is the best way to stop it in its tracks."
The former Australian leader is getting scorned in his country for the comments, but attorney Jim Bopp says the slippery slope to the erosion of religious freedom is inevitable – and he should know.
"When Proposition 8 passed in California, which was to protect traditional marriage, the immediate reaction of the gay lobby was to decide to punish the supporters of traditional marriage," he recalls.
Bopp was the attorney who fought homosexual activists in the wake of that battle.
"They got the list of contributors to the Prop. 8 campaign; they then Mapquested that, put it on the Internet, and urged people to go confront the people, [even] in their houses," he tells OneNewsNow.
"... Supporters of traditional marriage ... had their businesses boycotted, they were fired from even important positions in companies, there was vandalism and violence directed toward houses and people," the attorney continues.
According to Bopp, bullying and intimidation has been a consistent reaction when pro-"gay marriage" activists lose any battle.
"Rather than live and let live and be tolerant of people who disagree after they got gay marriage, they decided to attack and assault and penalize people who don't agree with them," he summarizes.
Bopps adds that it's obvious to most people – from biology, from science, from history, from parenting outcomes, and from plain common sense – that marriage is the union of a man and a woman. And that, he argues, is why homosexual activists resort to constant harassment and occasional violence to bully the public into supporting unnatural marriage.
