We like to shop at Dollar Tree occasionally to buy food, household supplies and organizational items. But beware that items for a dollar aren't always a good bargain. For example I bought Comet cleanser at Wal-Mart for 88 cents vs Dollar Tree for a dollar. The containers for some household items are small and if you buy multiples of an items it can cost you more than buying a full size of the same product.

You're right sometimes there's some not so good bargains at the Dollar Store. We sometimes get our cleaning supplies there. Sudsy ammonia can be cheaper at DS. So can napkins and certain kitchen utensils. I found a swiffer mop there for less than half what they cost at Walmart. I'm noticing that Walmart's prices aren't so great lately. I like to watch the sales inserts in the papers for bargains too so it can save us money not have to be driving to the different stores because gas is expensive.

Sometimes I wonder the "only a dollar does not cause people to end up buying more then they may need. I rarely go to them, like said just because it is a dollar does not make it a good buy. One needs to know what they are buy. Also running all over town for the sales does not save one money neither most of the time.

That's why we look at the sales inserts just for the items on our list. It's easy enough with a calculator to figure out where our bill will be cheapest.
