I thought it would be neat to see where we were when the Lord saved those of us who are now His children. You can be as brief or lengthy as you wish.
I was at the Northeast Park Baptist Church (SBC,) in St. Petersburg, Florida. It was a Wednesday night service and they had an evangelist in named Jerry Johnston. I went forward at the invitation and a deacon named Marshall Broomes took me to the Fellowship Hall and we sat at a table. I remember his black Bible. I remember the (this is funny,) pots and pans hanging in the kitchen, but most of all, I remember Jesus coming in...oh glory, yes, I remember, Jesus coming in. Thank you Lord. That was October 9, 1985, and there has never been a day that the Lord has let me down. Glory to His name!
Saved by the Blood of the Crucified One! Bro. Ben
Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift [them] up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Psalm 24:9

It was at First Baptist Church of Santa Maria, California on the first Sunday of June, 2002.
I was in our conference room with our Youth Pastor. I was in absolute tears. I remember telling Pastor Stan that I knew I needed to be saved but I had a terrible alcohol problem. He immediately told me we need to gt me saved and then we will deal with the other problems.
At that point the tears got even more pronounced. he asked what the trouble was and I told him I was worried I was not worthy. I distinctly remember him saying, "You're not!" Of course I thought to myself in an instant, "Oh man, I am in big trouble now." But Pastor Stan followed that by saying, "I'm not, none of us are worth of so great a gift."
Now that made me feel better to know I was in a group of others in same condition. Pastor Stan led me to The Lord and that afternoon I was baptized. Praise God He extends such a wonderful gift to such unworthy people!
Yours in Christ, George Groce

I was saved on August 6, 1989 at a SBC church in Laurel, MS. I joined this church a few weeks before thinking i was a Christian due to walking the aisle a couple of years before due to pressure from everyone else in youth group wanting me to get saved. On this particular night in August i heard the pastor's son share his testimony of being a lost church member, i knew i was going to bust hell wide open if i died, so i couldn't wait for the invitation. I ran down the aisle, took the pastor by the hand, told him i needed to be saved. The only part of the prayer i really remember is crying out to Jesus, "Please save me!". And he did.

PS...Bro Ben, i heard Jerry Johnston a couple of years later in Lafayette, LA when i thought i was saved...sadly his message went in one ear and out of the other on that night.

I don't remember the exact date but I do remember the place. I was in my bedroom crying and hating my life when I took a New Testament that was given to me and read it. That night I got on my knees and asked Jesus to save me.
But I do remember that on July 23, 2000 which was a couple of years later I walked the aisle of an SBC and made my profession public. On that I felt the empowering of the Holy Spirit and everything changed.
To God be the glory!
