I beleive you have made a very wise decision to leave that Church. Well, perhaps not the Church but to separate from that particular pastor was a good thing in my opinion. His attitude about studying the Bible is completely wrong.
(Jos 1:8) This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
(Psa 1:2) But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
(Psa 119:148) Mine eyes prevent the night watches, that I might meditate in thy word.
These are actually but a few of the verses in the Bible dealing with meditation on the Word of God. One cannot meditate without studying. And what about this:
(Act 17:11) These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
The Bible says they were more noble because they studied their Bibles. They searched out the scriptures DAILY. Searching out is certainly a lot more involved than merely reading. I have heard of pastors who preach that the books of the Bible we know as the Pastoral Epistles are meant only for pastors. The entire Bible is meant for all of us; each and every word of it.
In Christ, George

Thank you, Brother. Tomorrow morning we are going to visit this church: www.fairparkbaptist.org/index.htmTake a look. The Pastor did warn me that this site is not really ready for public viewing but he gave it to me so I could look at their doctrinal beliefs. What do y'all think? Your sister in Christ, Traci
