My husband and I have been discussing something that recently has been layed to question in our home and I was wondering if I could get some insight from all of you. We realize, support and believe that a woman should be silent in Church. It is the Pastors(man's) place to teach and a wife should ask questions at home to her husband. The problem came up on Sunday evening worships. At the church we attend, on Sunday evenings before we get into the message we have a time of testimony. This time is open to any and all who choose to share a testimony with the congregation. Is this right? Can a woman share her testimony without disobeying the bible. I know I can share my testimony any other time, but the subject of silence in church was addressed quite plainly in our opinion. Please get back to me on this subject. Also, tomorrow I want to share with the ladies at our Bible Study the mini study I wrote a little while back it is in the reflections section, Do you think it sounds like I am pointing fingers and calling them wrong if I share this word for word what is written?

I don't think there is any prohibition for sisters testifying in a church setting. The only clear teaching is as follows:
1Ti 2:11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
1Ti 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
It is clear she isn't to usurp the position of pastor/teacher.
1Cr 14:34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but [they are commanded] to be under obedience, as also saith the law.
1Cr 14:35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
Again, I don't think the reference to "speak" hear means absolute silence, but to not usurp the position of teacher, but that doesn't mean she can't speak to ladies, children, or testify.
That is my personal view on the scripture, but I submit that to anyone who has scripture that indicates otherwise.
In regards to your other question, I don't think there is anything in there that would ruffle my feathers, but you are going to speak to business as usual Baptists and there could be some heat or fire. Perhaps not, I hope not, but I know there is a strong spirit in many Christian women these days and not a good one either.
Good luck, Bro. Ben
