Bro. Ben,
Do you have any idea what kind of church would be referred to as "Wilderness Faith Tabenacle" (located in Chapel Hill, TN)? A lady told me about it and that she thought it was a small house church fellowship. That's what I've been looking for as I'm no longer able to function in large or megachurch formats.
I drove over there to find the church and it was way back in the woods, so now I'm having qualms sort of about visiting this coming Sunday morning. I suppose it *could* be one of those snake-handling faith churches, but I doubted it would be since those aren't very prevalent around here. I hope.
I suppose if they did bring out the snakes about mid-service, I could tell them that if they didn't already have a back door, just to tell me and I could manage to tear one out of the wall by myself on my way out.
Anyway, I thought you may possibly be acquainted with the preacher or someone from there, or otherwise know something about it at least. I'm sort of casting about here with the church thing and just visiting here and there. My last experience was one of those exciting ones where about the third time I visited, about nine-tenths of the congregation had left and then returned the following Sunday under the provision that the preacher would be gone when they came back. . rather an unpleasant experience to say the least. I never knew what was up, but the whole situation felt worse every time I visited there. I knew it wasn't me because I barely was on a nodding basis with anyone there - and didn't feel like my wardrobe and head covering went over too well with the britches-wearing ladies there anyway.
So, if you have any specific knowledge of the "Wilderness Faith Tabernacle" group or groups, I'd appreciate any information.
Thanks.
M.
