Brothers and Sisters I ask your prayer both for my stupidity and healing. Yesterday I pulled the biggest bonehead maneuver I have done in a long time.
I had a friend over for a barbq. I put all the wood in and put the lighter fluid on the wood. I had the front access door of the barbq open instead of closing. I leaned over to light it and it flashed back into my face and forearms. I went to my primary care physician this morning. He sent me to a dermatologist. I have second degree burns on my forehead and under my chin and possibly my nose. I have first degree burns on the rest of my face and my forearms.
It was a very frightening experience. My friend who was with me said he thought I was on fire. So did I! I have no hair left on my arms and very little as far as eyebrows are concerned. They gave me some pain pills and a compound called Silvadene. Silvadene is something that contains a certain amount of silver to kill any infections. They also gave me a tetanus shot.
The silvadene looks like that white stuff lifeguards put on their noses so Sunday for Church I am just going to use Neosporin. The biggest thing is to keep it from drying out so it does not start to crack. It is rather uncomfortable.
It has been said the Lord looks out for fools and drunks. Since I used up the drunk part a long time ago I guess I am working on the fool part now.
In Christ, George

George, Prayers for your healing. - You'll heal up one day soon, and looking back on this will make you laugh . . . . . or not. Sorry this happened to you; we all do careless things without thinking sometimes. This, too, shall pass. Not scripture, but it's one of the more true sayings. See. You can still smile. M.

Thank you all for your prayers. I really look a sight today. I have areas of skin all over my face that are sloughing off. The pain pills are working for the most part. The worst thing I am dealing with (I am sorry it does not sound too delicate) is the oozing of plasma to the burned areas. I often feel as if my nose is running but it is the plasma.
Sister Brenda, I thought of my eyes yesterday evening. I believe my glasses protected my eyes. Praise God they were not injured.
I may have mentioned this already but the dermatologist gave me some stuff called Silvadene. It is a white sort of cream that looks like the white stuff lifeguards and surfers put on their noses. I talked to the skin doctor and we decided that on Sunday rather than frighten people half to death I will not put it on but merely use Neosporin. To this point there appears to be no infection setting in. My biggest challenge is to make certain the burned areas do not dry out so they start cracking. The dermatologist also told me he does not believe I will have any scars.
Praise God for making certain it was not worse than what it is. Unfortunately due to the cancer medication I have to take my immune system is somewhat compromised. That causes any kind of wounds I have to heal very slowly.
In Christ, George

There's this man who had been lost and walking in the desert for about 2 weeks. One hot day, he sees the home of a missionary. Tired and weak, he crawls up to the house and collapses on the doorstep. The missionary finds him and nurses him back to health. Feeling better, the man asks the missionary for directions to the nearest town. On his way out the backdoor, he sees this horse. He goes back into the house and asks the missionary, " Could I borrow your horse and give it back whan I reach the town ?"
The missionary says, "Sure but there is a special thing about this horse. You have to say 'Thank God ' to make it go and ' Amen ' to make it stop. "
Not paying much attention, the man says, "Sure, ok."
So he gets on the horse and says, "Thank God" and the horse starts walking. Then he says, "Thank God, Thank God" and the horse starts trotting. Feeling really brave, the man says, "Thank God, Thank God, Thank God, Thank God, Thank God" and the horse just takes off. Pretty soon he sees this cliff coming up and he's doing everything he can to make the horse stop.
"Whoa, stop, hold on !!!!
Finally he remembers, "Amen !!! "
The horse stops 4 inches from the cliff, then the man leans back in the saddle and says, "Thank God ."

Bro George, how are you feeling? Still praying for you.
BTW, I keep wishing I could change the subject of this thread from "stupidity" to "human error" or something! You're too hard on yourself.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers Sister. I am only saying what I believe to be truth. That was a very stupid thing I did.
I am feeling much better. The skin has just about finished peeling. I went to my CT scans yesterday. They went off without a hitch but the meds I had to take prior to the scans just knocked me out. Yesterday was like a lost day and today I am still tired.
I go in next Tuesday for the reading on the results of the scans. I am confident there is no new cancer. When I get something going on I can feel it. I have no sensations that there is anything wrong this time except for the other health problems I have.
But, the Lord will get me through it as He always does.
