New Study of Splenda Reveals Shocking Information About Potential Harmful Effects James Turner, the chairman of the national consumer education group Citizens for Health, has expressed shock and outrage after reading a new report from scientists outlining the dangers of the artificial sweetener Splenda (sucralose). In animals examined for the study, Splenda reduced the amount of good bacteria in the intestines by 50 percent, increased the pH level in the intestines, contributed to increases in body weight and affected P-glycoprotein (P-gp) levels in such a way that crucial health-related drugs could be rejected. The P-gp effect could result in medications used in chemotherapy, AIDS treatment and treatments for heart conditions being shunted back into the intestines, rather than being absorbed by the body. According to Turner, "The report makes it clear that the artificial sweetener Splenda and its key component sucralose pose a threat to the people who consume the product. Hundreds of consumers have complained to us about side effects from using Splenda and this study ... confirms that the chemicals in the little yellow package should carry a big red warning label." I know this is an older post but I am new to this and I just had to say I thank God for you putting this information up here. I am a MAster Herbalist by trade. That is before I was a keeper at home. But I often am still able to use the wonderful world of information I have learned. Splenda is a deadly substance that has been outlawed now in almost all countries. But not the USA. Here is a website for more information. I hope this is ok to put it here? www.truthaboutsplenda.comkindly~Vanessa

Yes, Sis. Andrea You can use the agave just like you would white sugar. It is a liquid so you will have to experiment a little when it comes to adjusting the recipe for the extra liquid. It is not hard though. We love it and use the agave for bread baking, cookies, lemonade, iced tea, etc.
You should be able to buy it at a health food store although it might cost a little more. We buy ours at the two bulk food stores near our house that are both Mennonite run. If you are unable to find any PM me and maybe I could ship some to you. Blessings Lisa

Stevia is a good alternative NATURAL God given sweetener. It is 1000x's sweeter than sugar. You use a lot less so you have to alter recipes but it is good to bake with. We grow our own plants and use them for tea and other "immediate sweet needs". They grow well almost anywhere. The leaf is the sweetest but the whole plant has sweetness to it. It does not have any negative effect on blood sugars. Hope this helps. Kindly~Vanessa
