Do any of you use natural or homemade cleaning supplies such as rug cleaner, glass cleaner, furniture polish etc? If so how do you prepare it? How does it compare to the commercial cleaners? I find that if I use the commercial cleaners to do heavy cleaning I usually end up sick not to long after We are now using basic H which works good but is expensive, and you cannot us it for furniture or the rugs. Thanks so much for any advice.

Hello Lisa, I found a really good list of homemade cleaners here: eartheasy.com/live_nontoxic_solutions.htm. I make a simple all-purpose cleaner with 1 cup distilled water, 1 cup isopropyl alcohol, 5 drops lavender oil, 5 drops peppermint oil. Works great, and it leaves a nice, clean smell! Tammy

Sis. Darlene,
One thing we have found is that vinegar works very well for cleaning the scum off the shower doors. It also works very well for mopping the floors. Another interesting thing I have found that works better than anything else I have found for cleaning the sink is toothpaste!! Yes it will clean the scum and junk out of the sink better than any commercial cleaner I have used. This is why I clean the sink with toothpaste and brush my teeth with baking soda ;D
