Dearest Board Brethren, I want to apologize for the tacky at least, downright wicked sometimes, ads on this page. Darlene and I are grieved over these ads and their recent turn for the worst. This is a "free" board and the ads come with it. You know the old adage, "Nothing is really free." It didn't used to be so bad, but the company that owns this service must have made some changes and the ads grow worse at every turn. There is a place to contribute to the "ad-free" option, but we don't have funds to do so. There may come a day that we have to close the board down. We are living in days when we see the mystery of iniquity already at work...overtime. It invades every sector. Let's pray that the Lord would redirect the bad ads to some other place and leave us in relative peace. Bro. Ben

Brother Ben,
What would it take to make this board ad free? I clicked on the link, but I have no idea of what volume you would need covered.

Dear sister Donna,
Bro Ben is away from the office and on the cell phone with me, he said he will post the details when he gets back to the office later today or in the morning.
Blessings!

I think the safe volume to purchase is the $7.00 dollars worth and see how that works. It is good for 50,000 page views. I don't think we get more traffic than that.

Does the purchasing have to be done month by month, or is it possible to purchase several months work of credits at a time? Can any one purchase the credits and you the administrator apply them any way you want? The information page isn't very clear on that.
Thanks Donna

I have read the informaiton on ad-free several times and it seems to me that it has to be done on a month-to-month basis. They say that it does not roll-over. I would recommend doing the minimum ($7.00,) one time at the first of the month and see how that does. If you (or anyone,) does/do this, please PM me and let me know yoy purchased the credits so I will know to go to the administrative area and apply them. That's how it has to be done. Thank you for considering this service, what a blessing.

Brother Ben, I apologize for taking so long to reply. I have been very sick again. By the grace of God I am feeling quite a bit better today but still not "normal."
You are correct. That is what I have traditionally don. The 7 dollars seems to cover the ads for a month. What I have done is when the ads start appearing again I go in and apply some more funds.
Of course when anyone does this they must notify you because you are the only one who can actually apply the funds.
In Christ, George

Sister Donna,
Thank you so much for paying to remove the bad adds from the board...It is a BIG Blessing to me personally.
On my computer I could not click on last 10 post, because there stuck on the top of the page... for over a week was a add for hair removal for women, immodest to say the least. It was a small picture, but it was there and I did not want that on my computer.
I am very disappointed at the changes pro boards has made. Bro George, I am praying for you. Blessings, ~ sister Darlene ~

Sister Donna, i t can be paid for in multiples. When I could afford it I paid for a year all at once. We usually do not exceed the amount covered by the 7 dollars here on this site so lately I have been going along one month at a time. Brother Ben, rather than shut down the boards have you considered moving them? There is a couple of good web hosting services out there. On Line Baptist is good. Reformers Unanimous uses them. Then there is also www.simplemachines.org/ This one has many, many features and it is free. I can see nothing about ads on it. In Christ, George

I was browsing this board today when I came across an ad on this site for a very worldly matchmaking service. The ad included immodestly dressed individuals and overall was clearly intended to imply that clicking the ad could lead to "passion".
I do not patronize these businesses.
Brother Ben, I saved a screenshot if you are interested in learning who is advertising here. For the protection of everyone here, I will not post any further details.

Hopefully this can be of help to some. If you use the Firefox browser, there is a free add-on called "Ad Block Plus" which you can download for it. It will block the ads on this and many other forums. The link to download is here: adblockplus.org/en/It can also be downloaded for Google Chrome, but not Internet Explorer. To download the firefox browser, go here: www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/Firefox is more "secure" than IE & less vulnerable to hackers, and many of the free add-ons are useful. If you share a computer with anyone, there is another good one called BlockSite, which lets you block certain websites from being viewed on the computer.
