What kinda of tools do you use if you use any to study the bible. Do you use more than just the Holy Spirit? I have and use the Strongsand the Vines. I am looking for a bible dictionary. If you use them, what titles do you use?

sister Lenni, the very best tool you can use for Bible study is the Noah Webster's 1828 Dictionary of the English Language. It is really the only tool you need for Bible study. It is the first and most comprehensive dictionary of what amounts to "American." Webster was also a devout Christian and most of the definitions in this wonderful book are given Bible references.
Since spelling in the English language was really only standardized in the late 1700's, Webster's 1828 is the closest dictionary we have to the language of the King James Bible.
You can purchase the dictionary if you look on-line. It is not cheap. The cheapest I have seen it is right around $50.00. However you can get it on-line for free. If you do a google search using Webster's 1828 Dcitionary as the search criteria you will find sites that you can link to so that you can type in a Bible word and have access to the definition.
If you use e-Sword on your computer you can also download a module for the Webster's 1828 from them. Of course all of the software on e-Sword is entirely free.

I wanted to add that if you use e-sword, they have Thayer's Greek Dictionary. It even corresponds with the KJV+Strong's Numbers that's the default Bible version for the program. I find that sometimes it helps to give me some extra info.
I highly reccommend e-sword--I think it's quite possibly the best Bible study program around.

Wonderful! Thank you both. I did have e-sword before we had to get a new computer. I just never down loaded it back on to this one. My husband and I would play "name that verse" with other bible translations. The ones from the "Message" are the most shocking. E-sword was great with side by side comparison. I think I'll down-load it back on tonight. Bro George, I have heard of the 1828 dictionary. I wanted one for homeschooling. I will be looking for that too Thanks again Bro. George and sis. Amen on the e-sword. I have it and like it. You can also download the STEP reader programs. I downloaded sermons by Bishop J.C. Ryle and they are some good reading. I would also highly recommend, 'The Martyrs Mirror,' in every library. We need to read the accounts of the persecuted saints of church history so we can realize what the propagation of the gospel cost our predecessors.
