Hello Sister Debbie, Praise the Lord for giving you strength to achive your goal. God is Good. I remember how I tried to lose weight it was so hard. I do believe we glorify God the way we eat. Over the years I learned about the right type of diet it is to eat foods that help our bodies work properly. Eating plenty of vegetables and fruits, whole grains are a must (soaked overnight for better obserbtion of nutrients), eating good fats like coconut oil, palm oil, olive oil, good quality butter is good too. I use only these types of oils. I don't use any oils that have soy in it. We don't eat anything that has hydroginated oil in it. I make lemon water it's so healthy for you it has the right kind of acids. I make my own lemon juice with lemons and honey and it tastes great. Cold herbal teas are great with lunch or dinner like peppermint tea sweetened with honey or maple syrop tastes great. The first thing I did is I cleaned all my cupbords from the foods that distroy our bodies like white sugar, foods with hydroginated oil in it (most all foods contain hydroginated oils in them, so we either have to make our own foods or shop at the health food store), candies, white bleached flour, everything that has color in it including pickles (did you know that almost every jar of pickles that is sold at the grocery store has a yellow dye in it?) and list can go on. I filled my shelfs with graines like Millet, Bulgur, Buckwheat, Oats, Barley. I bought Rapadura (natural cane sugar), honey, Spelt flour, Bulgur flour, Buckwheat flour, dry fruits, walnuts and pecans for snacks. I bake only with coconut oil and butter. If I would list everything it would be a long list. My husband loves my cooking. He is very happy to eat good and I am happy that I am able to take good care of my family. Sometimes we want something carbonated what I do is I buy carbonated mineral water pour in glasses and then add in each glass a tablespoon or more of frozen juice concentrate. It tastes like soda except without any presevatives. I find that cooking foods and freezing them safes lots of time. I spend one day cooking and then freez everything and then I just warm it up and meal is ready. Meals I freeze: meat stock, meat balls, potato/meat/chease dumplings, fried/baked chicken, vegetables, burritoes and so on. I hoped this helped. Dear Sister, may the Lord richly bless you. I think one of the important things is not to lose our JOY over this issue. I know it can really depress us, but God is with us and he knows our struggles and He is our Help in time of need and He will help you go through this time of change. With love in Him, Amy

Amy, do your herbal teas have natural flavors added? Here where I live I can only find one flavor that does not have "natural flavors". I don't buy things with natural flavors because it can be just about anything including soy which I am allergic to. The only herb tea without natural flavors I can find is peppermint. I do enjoy the peppermint. I don't sweeten it but just have it plain. It is so refreshing in the hot summer! Still, it would be nice to have a variety. My local store here does not have ANY herbal teas so I have to drive 35 miles to a store that does have them. I don't have a good health food store close (about 2 hours away) but if I knew of some brands I could maybe find some online.

Dear Shoshana, I don't like anything including "natural" added to my food or drinks. I make my teas from bulk herbs. We have only one car and my husband uses it most of the time, so I do a lot of shopping on line and no I don't buy my groceries on line . I buy my herbs at www.bulkherbstore.com (they grow their herbs organically) and another company that I buy from is www.sfherb.com (I don't know if their herbs are organically grown but they sell their herbs for a good price, also they sell in big quanties and herbs are light ). Peppermint tea is good after meals it helps to degest your food. We also like Chamomile with Alfalfa and little bit of lemon squized in it tastes great, it's a very nutritious drink. I don't really like spearmint tea to me it tastes like toothpaste. Good thing to know is that herbs should not be stored for more then two years they loose their healing properties. I hope this helped. May the Lord bless you. Amy

Oh my goodness!! It has been almost three years since I started this post, I was still in nursing school, so much has happen since then, unfortunately not enough weight loss that is for sure, I lost my way, with graduation and my move to a big city and working nights and most important I forgot who I was losing weight for, my Lord. I re-read my posts here and decided to start again, sharing my thoughts and struggles with this ongoing battle. I started weight watchers again January 2nd, 2009 with my oldest daughter, but she found out she is pregnant with her first baby ;D so she had to redraw her membership, but I have continued. I have lost 23lbs so far. You know the old saying if you fall off your horse, get back up and brush yourself off and climb back on, I think that is how that goes, anyway that is what I have done....I need to do this for my health and to be around longer for my young daughter. I know that I have failed over and over in this venture but I must try again, praying always that the Lord will help me overcome by addiction to unhealthy eating. I need to "EAT TO LIVE, NOT LIVE TO EAT" With that said, I hope that I can encourage anyone else that feel like they have failed and need a little motivation to re-start a healthier way of eating...I thank the Lord He is always there for me even when I mess up! I will up date my journal along my long and difficult journey, holding onto Jesus along the way.... Blessings Sis Debbie

Amen and here is how the Bible puts it:
(Luk 9:23) And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
Pick up your cross daily and follow Him. You can't go wrong. Oh how easy it is to forget that though.
In Christ, George
