This is good. I read somewhere that some doctors do c sections up to 50% of the time. Most doctors will not deliver breech, twins or v bacs. We do all three on a regular basis. You just have to know what you are doing and doctors are not trained to do these things. Just recently a doctor decided that a mothers baby was in " desperate need" of a c section and thought that the mother was 36 weeks along when in actuality she was only 32 and the baby died. not because of this babies " desperate " situation but because of the doctors incompetence. I could spend the rest of my day writing horror stories of things I have seen but it would not be profitable. My best advice to mothers is to eat a healthy diet pray for the Lord's protection over you and your precious little one and find a good competent midwife and have a home birth.

This is good. I get tired of hearing of people I know having to have a c-section for one reason or another and most of them are unnecessary. What reallly bugs me is when the dr decides to induce unnecessarily, even before the due date, and they end up doing an emergency c-section because the time wasn't right yet for the baby to be born. Just let nature take it's course and all will be fine in almost all situations. I do understand the need for a c-section at times, but in most cases nowadays it is preventable.

The thing I have noticed is it is very common for the Doctor to induce 10 days early. They did this with my first, and with my 5th child I noticed the talk in the waiting room of the Dr's office that the women were being induced 10 days early, he had asked me to and I refused, so he tried breaking my membranes during an exam about 10 days early, it hurt so bad, and I felt violated, I did have some blood, and contractions. I did not know what he had done until I was told by a friend, we prayed hard and the baby stayed in and was full term. This skunky Doctor wanted to start pitocen when I came to the hospital in labor, to speed things up, and when we said no he got mad and left the hospital, the nurses delivered my precious baby.
We had the next three babies at home under the competent care of good mid wives. I am Thankful for Mid Wives.
Two of my very close friends called me when their young (20) daughters were having their first babies, and asked me to pray. Both of these girls were put on pitosen 10 days early, their labors were very long and very hard they ended up talking them into C-Sections, both girls welcomed a C-Section after all that. Both girls wanted to go natural and not have a C-Section.
One of the girls now 25 just had twin girls the Doctor manipulated her again, and she had her babies induced early and delivered them by C-Section.
Doctors tell women they are too small to deliver a baby, or there is risk to the baby, etc. Fear tactics. There are few if any that doctors feel are capable of delivering full term, and natural.
I think alot of the Doctors do not really know how to deliver babies any more and they feel inadequate, and unsure of themselves. They have trusted in procedures and drugs for so long it's all they know or trust anymore. They also do not like being on call at the drop of a hat. They like to be in control of their schedule.
Mid Wives are the way to go. What a Blessing they are.
Doctors manipulate, use fear tactics, whatever it takes to get their way. And if they don't get their way they get mad, act rude, etc...
You have to know what you want and stand your ground, and even then your in for a fight.

I agree--midwives are SUCH a blessing!! One of my friends in PA gave me the name of her midwife, an Amish lady about an hour away. I was able to have her when I was pregnant with Nehemiah, and she was such a blessing! No unnecessary tests, when I was in labor she just let it progess (She did use Evening Primrose Oil, it helps dilate faster) and when Nehemiah was ready, he came! It wasn't a homebirth, at least not in my home, but she had a birthing center set up in her home. It was so comfortable! Right after Nehemiah was born she brought me peppermint tea with honey and creamer. She also made breakfast for Billy, Kayli (Billy's sister who was also present at the birth) and myself. It was wonderful! I wish there was another one like her in AZ whenever the next one comes, but I'm pretty sure there isn't. I know God will provide in His time though.
