Hi everyone, I usually have my wife, Vanessa, write but I will write this one. I am glad God has led us to this forum. If anyone can lend some scripture and words of advice on having Church at Home that would be appreciated. Brother Ben has given us sound wisdom on the matter I I thank him much for that. I would like to see what others are doing. We are looking for fellowship with other likeminded people, maybe on a monthly basis or less if necessary. Just fellowship, singing praise to God, and having others in a "service" would be so nice. Each able to bring something from God's word. I know it sounds like a dream that is unfulfillable these days but GOD IS ABLE. So I look forward to hearing how you Church? Where you Church? do your Churches have more covered women than just your family?
Blessings, Paul

Blessings, Paul Br. Paul: My husband and I homechurch and something we do is to buy a reputable Bible study and use that to get started. It's always smart to double check your reading of the Bible so you don't end up with misinterpretations and a reputable Bible study helps tremendously in that regard. We also use a Strong's Concordance and one or two other reputable Bible commentaries with Greek and Hebrew glossaries.
We like the studies from Brethren Revival Fellowship Witness because we know the ministers and leadership are very careful not to go to extremes. They check each other's scholarship. Just Google Brethren Revival Fellowship and it will pop up for you to access the materials. They also have excellent articles and commentaries. Very good for helping Christians to mature in the faith. You might find another study that suits you but that's up to you.
My husband and I don't sing well and we don't really care for a lot of musical instruments even if we could play them. We like a capella hymn recordings to sing along with. They're beautiful, simple and let us concentrate on the message rather than how well an instrument is being played. So we always put on an a capella recording and sing a couple of hymns. You and your wife might like to put on your favorite hymn recordings if you don't play an instrument so you can have a singing before or after your Bible study.
Here is the sequence for our home church on Sunday.
- We pray for God's guidance.
- We sing a hymn with the recording.
- We break open the Word with our Bible study
- After we read and answer questions quietly we'll discuss it.
- Close with a prayer and another hymn.
It takes us about 2 hours and then we spend the rest of Sunday very quietly, either reading devotional books or doing a hobby we like after the animals are fed of course. If we have visitors, they join us in the worship and study. During the week we also do Scripture memory so we can recall Bible verses in the course of daily life. I hope this helps you get started.
Speaking of which, the two recordings I ordered arrived today! Both are done by Hutterite choirs and and I've been playing them while canning my vegetables from the garden. They sure do make the chores much lighter! We bought them from this link and you can listen to samples of the music there too hutterite.org/

Sister Trinity I knew a lot of the Hutterite community when we lived in Great Falls, Montana. We lived there from 1976 through 1979. They had a commune several miles out of town. They were kind, religious, very separated people, but they were always welcoming to visitors. The towns people treated them like they had the plague though and I felt sorry for them. That's been a lot of years ago so I hope life is sweeter for them now. Anyway it was nice to visit the site you posted, kind of like getting to see an old friend. Blessings and Prayers, Sister Pamela

We enjoy visiting with them on occasion too, Sister Pamela. About once every 3 or 4 years we'll be over to Lewistown way on the other side of the Divide and we always like to stop and visit one of the colonies over there.
