This last week our family has been battling the flu. I was the first one to get it last Friday and the rest of the family has had it the last few days. I only had it for one day no vomiting or other typical and unpleasant side affects of the flu. Other than just feeling generally unwell and like I had five pounds of led in my stomach. The rest of the family however has had vomiting high fever and body ache cold chills etc...
What I think made the difference is when I first woke up with flu symptoms I immediately started drinking red raspberry leaf tea with raw honey in it and took Ecchinacea tincture with golden seal in it all day throughout the whole day. Eating nothing and drinking only tea and water. Whereas the rest of the family did not do this and ate a regular diet. I have read in different books that fasting and drinking this tea would cure the flu in 24 hours but after this week I am a believer.

That's great, Lisa! Fasting or at least eating very light gives a sick body a break from digesting so energies may go to healing. Sounds like you nipped the flu in the bud with your teas and tinctures, too! My secret weapon is garlic. I make a "tea" from it, squeeze in some fresh lemon juice, and sweeten it with raw honey. Sounds gross, but it actually tastes pretty good especially when one is ill.

Hello Sisters,
When we get sick..cold or flu, we make a concoction out of,
crushed garlic a dash of salt diced onion dash of red pepper dash of ginger
Boil water pour over ingredients in a mug, let steep for about 5 min.
Also a soup made with chicken pieces with the bone in (the bone marrow inside the bone is very healing, it is supposed to have B vitamins in it,we add celery, onion, carrots, potatoes and Thyme (thyme is very good for clearing mucus.) We also add red pepper, ginger, salt, and crushed garlic. This is very healing we call it sick man stew, Bro Ben made it for us once when I was sick and he put so much red pepper in it we could hardly eat it, but we love hot spices so we ate it and endured. Red pepper will clear you up right quick, it is easy to add a little too much because it's powdered, we use crushed red pepper also.
Have yall heard of Unkers, That is really good at opening up your air ways, and also Cough Drops with Eucalyptus.
We also take E-mergency that helps kick just about anything out of our system from the onset.
I love hearing what people do naturally to help themselves when they become sick.
Bro Lester Rolloff said he could cure anything with a jug of purified water and a bag of lemons.
May the Lord bless us with good health.
Love , ~ sister Darlene ~

I make sure to have thieves oil on hand (also called oil of four thieves). I put it on the bottoms of my feet before bed (making sure to wear socks).

I have heard of '' oil of four thieves '', Where do you get yours? Can you take it internally? I forget what I read about it. Isn't it '' four Italian herbs? '' Is it in an oil base? An olive oil base would be nice. Michelle, It is nice to meet you! Hope to be able to get on board more than I have the past year. Ben is always encouraging me to try and make time to get on and post. He even bought me my first lap top. I really like it, I can sit in different places around the house and type, well I do not type I peck with one finger. It takes more time but I get the job done.
Blessings on your day!
Love, ~ sister Darlene ~

I make mine. I purchased the essential oils and I use grapeseed oil as a carrier.
Here's the recipe that I use: Clove Bud Oil 200 drops, Lemon Oil 175 drops, Cinnamon (also called cassia) Oil 100 drops, Eucalyptus Oil 75 drops, Rosemary Oil 50 drops.
Mix together and add to of the carrier oil in a ratio of 1 part Thieves to 4 parts carrier. This is for using it against your skin.
TO is anti-bacterial, viral and fungal. You can also put some in a spray bottle with some vinegar in it to clean with.
Whatever you do, DO NOT ingest.

Here's a cough syrup recipe that my friend came up with. I've made it and used it and it worked for me. I kept it in the fridge.
2 cups filtered water 2 T grated fresh ginger 2 cloves garlic 1/8 t cayenne pepper
Simmer the above 20 minutes together. Strain into a jar or bottle. Cool.
Add:
1/4 cup lemon juice 1/3 honey (more or less to taste)
Mix well. Use a couple tablespoons every few hours.

THis isn't really a flu remedy or made with herbs, but when we feel like we are getting sick, we like to get drinks from BOlthouse Farms. THey have a C-Boost fruit smoothie drink that gives immunity support. It contains 50% daily value for Vit A which supports the circulatory system, 1200% daily value for vit C which benefits the immune system, 20% daily value of Vit E the maintains skin and eye tissue, plus it contains zinc and echinacea to strengthen the body's immune system. It is gluten-free, NO preservatives, NO artificial colors or flavors, NO genetically modified ingredients. And the best part, it is DELICIOUS! They have many other drinks too, all with different purposes. I know a woman who drinks their carrot juice and it has helped her to lose weight. Also, the Green smoothie is GREAT! It contains vegetables and fruit. Some people who are on the raw food diet, will drink green smoothies to help them get enough vegetables. I just finished drinking some this morning as I am trying to get rid of a cold/sinus problems. I saw where Darlene mentioned using Emergen-C, and this has tons of Vit C in it as well. You can sometimes find them next to the produce or in the juice section. Please, don't let the ingredients fool you! They are all so tasty! The green one includes sea weed, broccoli, and I think even artichokes, but because of the fruit in it, you could never tell. Believe me, if you could, I would not drink it.
