I am not sure where I read it, but someone was saying their homemade wipes were getting moldy before they could use them all. I am trying to start cloth diapering, and in the process, I found some hints on making your own homemade wipes. My middle son has such problems getting rashes, so I want to try and limit all the chemicals and stuff that touch his delicate skin, including wipes. Well, if you use one of these recipes, the vinegar and essential oils discourage yeast growth which means you shouldn't have too much trouble with these wipes getting moldy. It also says to try and use distilled water, which will help keep your solution fresh. Here is the two recipes. Simple Anti-Fungal Wipes 2 cups (16 oz) water 2-5 drops Tea Tree oil 2-5 drops Lavender oil 1 tsp. of your favorite baby wash (optional)
or
Anti-Fungal Baby Wipes 1/2 c. distilled water 1 tsp. vinegar 1/4 c. aloe vera gel 1 TBS. calendula oil 1 drop lavender essential oil 1 drop tea tree essential oil
I have not used either solutions, as I have not ever made homemade baby wipes, but I thought some of you who have may can use these recipes to help with the mold problems.
