Hello all,
To re-introduce myself, I'm Mary Jo from the Charlotte, NC area. I'm in my 40's, married and have no children. I work from home as a medical transcriptionist. I've lived in this area for 3 1/2 years - - a Northern transplant
I haven't been on the board for a number of months. My mother, who lived in Pittsburgh, PA in a nursing home became ill in February with a collapsed left lung. I went up to be with her for a week at that time. Unfortunately, her condition declined over the next few months and she passed away on May 2nd, so I have been dealing with her loss. I got the phone call here in NC early on that Sunday morning, so I was not with her at the time she passed. Because she was buried in the local National Cemetery (she was a Navy nurse) and they schedule everything, she was already buried by the time we arrived in Pittsburgh. It was just my husband and I, which was sort of sad - - no wake, funeral, flowers or anything. We just went to the cemetery when we got to town, took a day to go to the nursing home to pick up her belongings and then drove back to NC.
It's been difficult for me. The Lord gives me a new measure of grace daily, though, as I pray and read the Word. Mom made a profession of faith about 10 years ago, but also struggled with emotional problems so I am not certain of her state before the Lord - but I have given that over to Him, as difficult as that is for me to do.
Anyway, just wanted so share what has been going on with me. I look forward to becoming reacquainted with the brothers and sisters on this fellowship site!
Have a blessed evening,
Mary Jo
