These are a family favorite, we used this recipe yesterday it made 16 Quarts....yummy We let them sit in the pantry about two months before we eat them.
Yesterday we added a long skinny hot pepper to each qt and also 1/4 tsp of ground red pepper to each qt. These will be sweet and spicy...
Bread and Butter Pickles
Slice Cucumbers , pack in jars 16qt or 32 pints approx...you can add a little vinegar if the liquid runs short.
Syrup:
2 qts vinegar
2 qts water
5 lbs (11cups ) sugar
1/4 cup salt
1 Tb each turmeric, garlic, celery seed, mustard seed
Bring syrup to a boil and pour over cucumbers. water bath for 10 min.
Enjoy!
