Recently I have been having some very difficult times. I have had severe shortness of breath and a high blood pressure as well as a very fast heart rate. Wednesday morning I was at my primary care physician's office with a resting heart rate of 120 as well as being very short of breath and having a blood pressure of 127/98. The Lord provided for someone to cancel an appointment with my Oncologist so I was able to get in to talk to him Thursday afternoon. This time my resting heart rate was 127 and again the blood pressure was really high. He had me do two laps (walking of course) around his office and exam room area and checked me again. This time the machines could not even find the heart rate and blood pressure. He had the look in his eyes like he wanted to put me back in the hospital again. I wasn't going for that.
Anyway I got sent on Friday for an echo-cardiogram. Praise God that it came back fine and there is nothing wrong with my heart. I also had blood work done that day to check on my thyroid functions. I am still waiting results on that one. Next I am supposed to go for a CT scan of my chest to check for pulmonary embolisms. My oncologist said often cancer patients who have extensive surgery as I did recently develop blood clots in the lungs.
Now I believe it comes from my pain medication. If you recall I had to stop taking three different ones because of similar problems. This is my fourth pain medication. It worked fine for about a week and then started clobbering me. I asked my oncologist to tell me how to wean myself off of them. I am now back to one or two a day and am feeling quite a bit better. In fact I don't think I need the CT scan.
Praise God once again for His goodness, grace and mercies. He certainly has been much better to me than what I deserve. It is quite humbling also to stop and think that He treats me far better than I do Him. I am working on taking care of that discrepancy, believe me.
Thank you all for your continued prayer support. I covet your prayers.
In Christ,
George
