I was noticing the picture at the top of this page that shows what has been left out of the NIV and the NASV, and I was wondering if you all know of a website, that actually compares the versions side by side like that.
My husband of course is a KJV only and in this house we use it, we have 2 other versions, but they are only used here and there, and NEVER without the KJV right beside of them, per my husbands instruction.
However, several of his family and others we know have taken to using the NIV in their Baptist Churches, because the preacher started teaching from it, and they have said NOTHING was omitted from them. I have never looked at one so I don't know.. but according to that picture at the top of this page, MANY, MANY things have been left out and I would love to be able to show them what parts of and what verses were omitted, so that they can see because up until about a year or so ago they were all strictly KJV so I am wondering what has changed this pastor/friend's mind and if we show the family member (a Deacon) at that church that maybe he can show the pastor also..
Anyway, all of that to say, can you give us a resource I can email or show to him that will show what was omitted from the NIV and the NASV? I really appreciate it.
And Bro. George, I told my husband, let him read what you said about the HCS and he is studying into it further, but like I said, he says nothing is to be in the house or read without the KJV beside of it and that the KJV is always right if there is ever a discrepancy. Thanks for the info though.

I should clarify that the picture I am talking about is at the top of the page when you open the Fundamental Issues and Theology 101 section.. ;D You won't see it if you are reading the posts from the 10 most recent posts section. But I think you all know the one I am talking about, it is right beside of a picture of a 1611 with swords across them... ;D
And I ask the question because my husband also wanted to know where we could find comparisons for his cousing the deacon. We have discussed it. I did not want you all to think I was going over his head by coming here first. I always ask my husband first and then go from there.. if he tells me to search for some info then I do, and if he says he will then I wait for the answer. Just to clarify.

Here is a link to a resource page. It should supply ample information regarding most of the modern translations. www.av1611.org/othpubl.html#KJVI especially like the article about what Ronald Regan said about the KJV as compared to the Good News Bible. Enjoy reading, Bro. Ben

Thanks Bro Ben, forthe input on the Geneva Bible question. My husband and I are praying about adding to our reference library and to read thru it ourselves. The church we attend uses the KJV and we like that version. As to the comments about the NIV -- we do not own one. There are many things omitted and changed around in that version we feel. I too like your little thing in the corner of this page, makes you stop and think doesn't it?
Blessed Sabbath~ Amy

Sister Amy, do you have e-sword installed on your computer? E-sword is the very best Bible software I have ever seen and is entirely free! Let me give you the link to the site: www.e-sword.netE-swod has many, many Bible versions available for download. It also has the capability of doing comparisons. I highly recommend using this software. It also precludes you having to buy or borrow other "versions" of the Bible in order to accomplish you aims. In Christ, George

Thank you brothers for the information. We will look at the links and study them with prayer. We are concerned for some of the family that attends this local Baptist Church as they are becoming very modernized and say that any translation is as good as the other which is a bit shocking coming from a Baptist Church. My husbands father is a Baptist preacher (not actively pastoring a Church at this time, but ordained through Baptist seminary's I think.. he went to Lee College and another one I can't remember at this time.) Anyway, he is strictly KJV also. As I said he was ordained as a Baptist preacher, but is actually well studied and has found problems with some of the Baptist doctrine of the local conventions.. which almost all Baptist churches in this area are members of the Southern Baptist association. Not sure if you all are familiar with it or not, but in the past 20 or so years that I can recall since I was a youngster in the Baptist churches growing up, MUCH of their doctrine has changed. Many of the local churches now even deny headship order and say that it was only Paul's opinion, and they also are considering ordaining women as ministers and such as that.. I am a little shocked by it. When I was a child, women did not lead prayer, or anything in church... headship order was still taught, and women wore dresses to church for sure if not all the time.. Now even in the most conservative churches around here it is acceptable for women to wear pants and lead opening and closing prayers, and stuff like that. Anyway, getting onto another soap box, so I had better refrain for now. I am just shocked, as I am only 32 years old and WOW how times have changed in our little 3 red light town. Anyway, we still attend a local Southern Baptist Church as Josh says they are the closest to what he wants the children learning, and to what the Bible says, he just says it is up to us as their parents to fill in the gaps. Oh well, I am rambling. I do so greatly appreciate the information and look forward to studying it and sharing it with some of our cousins who attend another local Baptist Church.. Thanks a bunch. In Christ's Love, Heather
