Grace and Peace to you Brothers and Sisters in Christ.
It has taken me a few days to decide how to introduce myself and that has to do with the very reasons why I wanted to join this particular fellowship.
Starting with the easier/simpler (for lack of better terms) classifications: My name is Joanna, I am 38 years old and have been a born again believer since I was 18. I was not raised in a Believer's household, but God was very merciful to me, His Spirit prodding me for as long as I could remember, until I recognized my sinful nature and my need for Jesus; therefore I am a saved sinner, shown immeasurable grace by the Lord, born again in Christ; I am His maid-servant.
I am also the helpmeet to my beloved, Charley; we have been married for 18 years. We have two precious and precocious blessings; sons, MacKenzie (almost 13) and Joel (10). I am a SAHM and home-educator. We are not plain, but we live a simple and rather quiet life in a small town in Arkansas. We belong to the largest church in our community; a Southern Baptist congregation, having been lead out of a Protestant denomination 5 years ago (that is a longer story, how we ended up their to begin with, perhaps that will be a discussion for a later time).
And here is where my intro becomes weightier; for while doctrinally this church is the closest to our own understanding of Holy Scripture (within our community that is), we are still extremely peculiar, even in the midst of the members of this congregation. We attend this church as a place for corporate worship and in an attempt to share believer's fellowship, but it is not where we go to express the fullness of our faith as we have found no truly like minded people to worship and/or fellowship with in that manner. My husband is more comfortable with this church and as he is the head of our family (though I am often the more bold and insistent one in regard to faith matters) we still attend, though I feel certain that their is some other way/place we could better worship corporately. I am personally starved for fellowship with those who are like-minded and sold out to a life in Christ.
I have recently been convicted to wear the head cover and am slowly changing my attire (finances are prohibitive at the moment); and in this obedience have found much peace. My husband is supportive, but not wholly convicted regarding the matter himself.
As a family we are always seeking the will of the Lord. We also are working on homesteading matters (we live in town so many of the things we are interested in and/or already know how to do are prohibited within in city limits). I enjoy crocheting and also do some sewing. My husband is a handyman on the side (he has a "real" job at a local company) and he and the boys are all endowed with musical abilities and use their gifts to praise the Lord. We enjoy the out of doors; camping, hiking, fishing. We are endeavoring to live as simply and as faithfully as we can.
I believe that about sums it up. I am looking forward to fellowshipping with you dear folks and am encouraged simply by the fact that this site exists. Praying God's blessings upon you today and always.
