Though I had not suffered from them in many years, last year I began suffering with Springtime allergies again. The symptoms are typical: constant congestion, runny nose, sneezing, watery-itchy eyes; but they have become so severe that they affect my daily life.
As is always the case I was reluctant to take medications, but the symptoms were so exaggerated I could barely function in a normal capacity. So we experimented with several OTC medications and later was prescribed stronger doses of one; but these, as with so very many medications, cause me great concern and I experience numerous side effects (which then tend to interfere with my daily life), besides the effectiveness seems to wear off after an extended period of use.
My question: Do any of you use a successful natural treatment for seasonal allergy symptoms?
I know raw, locally grown honey is supposed to have a significant effect on helping seasonal allergies. I have also heard of using goldenseal (have read this is good for many things, but never have used it), and increased vitamin C (what is the best way to take vit C?).
***Another question: What do you use as an analgesic (general pain reliever-for headache, muscle aches, etc.), since so many consider Tylenol and Ibuprofen to be hazardous? And what about an antipyretic (fever reducer)?
I am often skeptical about what I read online, it is difficult to vet the vast amount of material, especially when you don't know much about the subject to begin with; there are many folks looking to make a buck and others that simply promote bad medicine out of ignorance or even for malicious reasons, but I have found only wise information here and would like to learn more from the Brothers and Sisters here.
Your input is greatly appreciated as is your time and consideration.
