Here is a long over due update post for those who know and love us.
Wow! my baby is growing up.
When she was born she got stuck, turned blue, the shoulders were stuck, then she would turn blue on her foot or leg for months after that. Air deprivation can cause retardation (brain damage) but in her case Deprivation caused Stimulation! She is extremely bright. She was extremely strong as well, and she's pretty big too. She talked early, she did everything really early.
We bought her card board books and a kitchen set for her first birthday, she liked to make muffins (pretend) every morning for us. She would sit patiently while we would read through a whole book. Very unusual.
She has been advancing quite quickly, she is now learning her ABC's, Colors, How to count (up to 7 so far), she likes to sing '' A Sunbeam A Sunbeam, Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam, A Sunbeam A Sunbeam, I'll be a Sunbeam for Him, and Jesus Saves, And a German song we know. She talks in complete thought and sentence. She is also very active...always doing something, she keeps us .
Today she made roll out Sugar cookies, we let her roll the dough, and press the cookie cutters, she had a great time, her big sister decorated them with colored icing. She watched them bake through the oven window, and enjoyed eating a few too.
For Christmas we got her a coloring book and big crayons, she loves to color!
For her Birthday we are giving her some more books, she has her very own cabinet full already, she's very responsible with them. We are getting her a tricycle too, her siblings have already taught her how to peddle, she is so excited about getting a tricycle on her Birthday.
Out of 9 children only one other child was this advanced and it was our first born (Benjamin now 25)
All my others were just normal and fairly calm and easy to raise.
The thing I really like about Melody is... she has a very kind heart, she is sorry when she disobeys, and wants to do good.
We had some friends come over and their young children taught Melody some naughty behavior and phrases like ( No..It's Mine, and Answer me. ) We've been really working hard with her to not say these negative things. Easier taught than Untaught. Please pray for us about this.
The other day we said '' Melody do not say No...say ''Yes Ma'am. So now she says '' No Please.'' ;D How cute. Well that's not the results that we wanted, but it's a start in the right direction.
We love our little girl.
We have to make her new dresses every 6 months, they are floor length when we make them, and almost knee length by 6 months. She wears a size 6 1/2 and 7 shoe already, she weighs 27 pounds.
She wants to potty train so bad. She talks about it all the time, I'm waiting for warmer weather. She still nurses first thing in the morning, at nap time, bed time, when she gets hurt, or extra when she is sick which isn't very often. Were thankful for her good health! God is abundantly good.
She's a sweetie, and she brightens all our days...never a dull moment, we laugh alot and coo over her much.
