Unfortunately, there aren't any ALDIs in South Australia! I think they're considering starting one up here though. But when we're in Victoria/New South Wales visiting relatives, we do all our shopping at an ALDI. My family loves it.
Here, we do most of our shopping at local shops or at Foodland, which is a South Australian chain of shops. Foodland has lower prices than other supermarkets like Woollies and Coles, and they try to get local(-er) produce to... we often see fresh produce from local small businesses there.

We started shopping at Aldi about a year ago. We were nearly exclusively Publix shoppers before. Shopping at Aldi was a bit of a culture shock at first. We did not know about the shopping cart deposit or that you had to bag your own groceries. Major chain retailers will have one entire aisle dedicated to literally hundreds of cereals and Aldi had what seemed to be such a modest selection. But it's nice to not have a store be so overwhelming. Once you learn where everything is you can get in and get out quickly, which is great.
We literally cut our grocery bill in half. For the first time in over a year I was able to afford chicken and fresh produce. There are still some things Aldi does not carry that I have to purchase at other stores. They don't sell my dry black beans, baking powder (it's a seasonal buy during the holidays, but not a regularly stocked item), and apple cider vinegar just to name a few.
I think Trader Joe's is owned by the brother of the man who started Aldi. The closest Trader Joe's is about forty-five minutes from here, but worth the drive if you want something really special, but don't like the costs at a place like Whole Foods.

We love Aldi too!
We go around to the local stores once a week Super Rama, Piggly Wiggly, Kroger and we shop their specials and save tons of money.
We by all our products for the cheapest price possible.
We can, dehydrate, freeze, and stock up on soap, shampoo, cleaning supplies, toilet paper, paper towles, medical supplies, etc.
This saves us alot of money and makes our quality of life better.

My family actually prefers the taste of many Aldi products compared to name brands. For example, we love the taste of Aldi milk far more than Mayfield. My only splurge item is I buy King Arthur flours for my baking, especially my wheat breads since Aldi only sells bleached flour. I do, however, love it when Aldi gets their cornmeal in. It makes the most beautiful corn bread

The only time we go to Aldis is for bulk t.p., 10 sugars, 10 flours, 10 types of noodles, & canned food flats (stock ups) 2xs a week. We purchase about 30-40 flats in veggies, fruits, soups, & different types of beans.

2xs a week??? That's a lot of food! We like to be prepared. We have a big family! Jesus said it best: 19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Yes this is true but with the economy as it is we need to be prepared as well.

The philosophy of preppers is in direct contradiction to the words of Jesus. 25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. Matthew 6 The teaching of Jesus Christ is definitive on these matters and are not superseded by fear or societal pressures.
