I was not able to get into the free program to see about my feet. I can't say I am surprised. They tell me I can get into another program if I can pay which I cannot. Oh well.

My apologies. . . . I don't get on this fellowship board regularly and am just reading your prayer request this evening. Know I will keep you and your wife in prayer.
Just a suggestion . . . do with it what you will, but if you are able to do some type of work, the ALDI grocery store chain's cashier's sit while working at the register. Perhaps this might be a possibility of some type of work. if they would be willing to work with any physical limitations you have.

My wife and I are applying for whatever jobs we can find that we can do. We could plaster the wall with rejection letters we have received. So far, we have only been able to get one interview apiece. We are rejected before we are even seen, which is sometimes a bit hard to take.

Thank you, sister! Please know we appreciate it. Looks like tomorrow I will have to sell my class ring and a ring that belonged to my father. I don't wear them but I wanted to keep them. Nothing but this situation would lead me to do this which I hate to do. I've sold all kinds of personal items in the recent past, things that have been in my family for decades. When these rings are gone I will have to sell my run down van, if it can be sold. Like the title says, things are down to the wire.

I decided to put the ring on Craigslist and then Ebay. The money may be better that way. Pawn shops and gold buyers are not offering very much.

Things are not going well. I was going to have someone I know who has an Ebay/Paypal account set up an ad to sell the ring. He later said he wouldn't do it. Now I'll have to do it but lost some precious time while he wavered on the deal.
I have it listed on Craigslist but so far results have been zip. Way too many crazies on there. Please continue to pray for us as people are starting to call demanding money I don't have.

JohnMark, Have you looked into (at least) temporarily relocating in order to find work? I know some people that have done this and it helped greatly.

Brother Ben, Actually, last summer we did relocate. We were in southern Georgia and moved to central North Carolina. We thought at the time we had a job waiting but that didn't happen. My wife and I are both from N.C. and thought we could network better here. From the posts I have made you can see things have not gone as we would have hoped. Further moving is financially impossible right now.

Looks like I have managed to sell the ring. I didn't get as much as I had hoped but more than the pawn shop was offering and I can buy it back from this person, if things improve one day.
Many more rejection letters have come in the mail. You get used to it after a while but you wish they would at least have an interview. There is the chance that my wife may get a temp job in an art shop in a nearby town. This is not great but it would put her in an air conditioned place with very light work so her asthma won't flare up.

As if we didn't have enough trouble, Marie has been suffering from bronchitis. It got so bad a while back that I had to take her to the emergency room as it was on the weekend. She was having a real tough time breathing. After 2 breathing treatments they gave her some prescriptions. This was about 2 weeks ago.The bill was well over $1,000.
She didn't improve a whole lot so we went to the county clinic. She has 2 more prescriptions. One has been filled and she has not gotten back to where she ought to be.They told her to wait and see on this before she got the other Rx filled. Looks like we will get that done this week as she is coughing very hard off and on. As usual, we are beyond broke.
Finally, she fell Saturday, hurting her knee and ankle. Not sure if we will have to go to the clinic for this or not yet. Her knee, the same one treated earlier this year, looks absolutely horrible. I've never seen a bruise this bad and Marie bruises easily, always has. She is able to get about with a cane and made it to the meeting this morning. (Strangely enough, a lady we know fell at the end of the meeting. She may have been really hurt, not sure. It was bad moment. She couldn't get up, her husband has COPD and could barely lift her. I helped as best I could. Her name is Penny.)
Please continue to pray for us and Penny too . Things are bleak looking right now.

Please pray with me that I can keep my temper when the collection agency people call. I know I shouldn't let them bother me but these folks get under my skin fast. I'm trying to do right in this.If you have ever spoken to them, you know how frustrating it can be.
